East Carter 48 Fairview 0 (Scrimmage)

By newarkcatholicfan - East Carter 48 Fairview 00 Game two from East Carter High School was a battle between the home team Raiders and the visiting Eagles. I had a sense about how Fairview was going to look, after talking to some from the area. I knew a little about East in talking to a coach from another team in the area. I took this from this game, East Carter was able to work on a lot and was very classy in not making this a lot worse, as they used a lot of players in a lot of different ways. Fairview was beaten in every way a team can be beat, but to the credit of the players, they never stopped giving it... Read More →

Greenup County 26 West Carter 17 (Scrimmage)

By newarkcatholicfan - Friday night I made the drive to East Carter High School to watch the battler between The Musketeers from Greenup County and the very young Comets from West Carter. Though this was a grid game both teams seemed to want to come out with the win, but I believe neither team showed their complete playbook, even though West Carter pulled off a double handoff with a pitch back to the quarterback, that went for a very long gain. The crowd was a decent size but I would say smaller than in the past year, that I have taken this event in. Some construction on a bridge very close to the stadium... Read More →

Bluegrasspreps' Pre-Season Eastern Kentucky Power Rankings 8-9

By ATLCat - 1. Johnson Central Golden Eagles (4A, 12-3, State Runner-Up)- Franklin-Simpson took out some revenge on the Golden Eagles in the Finals but don’t feel sorry for Matney’s bunch. Johnson Central returns a wealth of starters and get back superstar RB Joe Jackson from a season ending injury. 2. Corbin Redhounds (3A, 13-2, State Runner-Up)- Corbin came up just short against a peaking Boyle County team. Corbin must replace their heartbeat in QB Camron Sizemore, but Chase Estep is dynamic. The Hounds should still be solid on Defense. Cross-Bracketing also is favorable for Corbin as they avoid the... Read More →

By Colonels_Wear_Blue - 1) 5A Covington Catholic (15-0 in 2017) – The Colonels have a heck of an act to follow after an undefeated state championship season in 2017. Job one is replacing graduates linebacker/running back Grant Dyer, linebacker/tight end Kam Butler, quarterback AJ Mayer, defensive back/receiver Malachi Pike, and safety Adam Schneider. Most indications are that sophomore Caleb Jacob will be getting the nod as QB after a very strong freshman season for the Colonels.
