9th Region Tournament Preview

By PP1 - Regional Tournament Preview Hard to believe that the season is coming to a close. I hope to see some of you at NKU on Saturday. I wonder if the weeklong furlough will adversely impact the performance of some of these young men that have worked so hard to get to the regional tournament. Game 1: St. Henry vs. Cooper. Time: 12:00. Preview: I would assume that both Mr. Sullivan and Mr. Faust would have preferred to not play at 12:00 in the afternoon. Both squads must remain focused all week in order to perform at a time that, perhaps, they only have had only one opportunity to... Read More →

1st Region Tournament Preview

By silo11 - Region 1 Tournament Preview – Murray State University At the beginning of the year all the hype was about two teams and two players. Zion Harmon with Marshall County and Jackson Sivills with McCracken County. It seemed that Marshall would be the favorite this season because they were going to have the one of the best players in the state and were playing a national schedule against some of the best teams in the country. Reality set in quickly that they were not ready for that type of schedule and McCracken defeating them on their on court. When they finally met a second time, Marshall... Read More →

16th Region Tournament Preview

By zebraman - 16th Region Tournament Preview All games of the 16th Region tournament are played at Ellis Johnson Arena on the campus of Morehead State University. Ashland comes in as the defending champion and the odds on favorite to win this year. They sit at 30-0 but have been tested, especially late in the season with West Carter, Boyd County, Rowan County and Russell as teams that have been beat by 6 points of less by the Tomcats. The Comets in particular, would like another shot at the Tomcats after a loss that was a hard pill to swallow. District Champions Rowan County (25-7 overall,... Read More →

By 15th Region - 2019-2020 15th Region Tournament Preview District Tournament Recap: We were able to correctly predict 6 of the 8 regional tournament teams with one of the districts being perfect on winner and runner-up (60th). Competitive Balance has been the name of the game this season and didn’t seem to slow down during the first week of the tournament. What is different about this year’s regional tournament is that Johnson Central will not be a participant for the first time in ten years, breaking their streak of eight straight regional championship game appearances as they lost in the first round... Eight teams remain in contention for a berth in this year’s boys’ Sweet 16 tournament. ... Read More →

2nd Region Tournament Preview

By silo11 - Region 2 Preview: Region 2 has been about one particular team the entire season, Madisonville-North Central. They did not lose a single game in the region and were ranked in the BGP top 10 the whole year. That is not to say a few teams gave them a scare during the year. Henderson County played them to an 8 point game and Lyon County played them to a 7 point game, the closest score for them in the region. The tournament will no doubt be theirs to lose, and they have been playing extremely well over the past month. In fact they haven’t had a close game since the 7 point win at Lyon... Read More →

The Knights were victorious in that game by a final margin of 21 but the game was much closer then that... Read More →

3rd Region Tournament Preview

By ApolloFan98 - Team Rankings... 1. Owensboro Red Devils (19-10) If Owensboro continues to play the way they have over the past few weeks, they will be going to Rupp Arena. Baring a night of a barriage of 3 pointers, it's hard to see a scenario where they loose in this tournament. Freshman PG Kenyatta Carbon has really turned the corner and has become a star late in the season. Mix him with junior big man Gavin Wimsatt and junior slasher, Amari Robinson Wales and the Devils look primed for a back to back title run. 6th man and spark plug Jaiden Greathouse leads the Devils in scoring and won the 9th... Sixth Region Tournament Preview

By Smallhoops - While there seemed to be a lot of parity in the Sixth Region this season, here we are heading into the Sixth Region tournament and the Fern Creek Tigers are 14-0 against Sixth Region competition this season. While perhaps the Tigers have separated themselves from the competition, the post season is a new season, and none of the other participants are ready to hand the trophy to the Tigers. The really good basketball that has been played all season in the Sixth Region certainly will continue in this week’s Sixth Region tournament, starting with Tuesday’s first round games. The... Seventh Region Tournament Preview

By Smallhoops - With the Male Bulldogs and the Ballard Bruins drawing into opposite brackets of the Seventh Region tournament, things are set up for Seventh Region fans to get what they have been hoping for, a Male-Ballard final. Since Male beat Ballard 76-67 on January 31 to avenge an earlier a 71-58 loss to the Bruins, many fans have been impatiently waiting for those two to play again. Male comes in at full strength and has not lost since the first Ballard game on January 17. Ballard has lost a few times down the stretch, all to quality teams, and I have little doubt the Bruins will be ready to play if... Read More →

16th Region Week 12 Review and Post Season Preview

By zebraman - The real tournament starts!! Regular season is out of the way now the real fun starts. 1) Ashland (Season: 28-0 This week: 2-0) Ashland finished the regular season flawless. According to local historians, this is the first time it has happened in the 16th region since the 1920’s. Ashland has certainly exceeded expectations. When watching them live, what I was most impressed with is the collective vision on the court and their ball movement. Opposing teams seems to spend a lot of time trying to “catch-up to the ball” this allows for many uncontested shots. The Tomcats finished... Read More →
