For the first time all season we have a tie, so this Top 5 list is actually 6. Enjoy the list & tell us where we're right or wrong. .gif #1- Omar Prewitt (Montgomery County)-It's only fitting that the Region's best player on the Region's best team earns the #1 spot as the regular season has ended. But Prewitt didn't earn this spot in name alone. The senior standout went for 31 points, 8 boards & 6 blocks vs. Scott to kick off Weeks 11 & 12. He followed... Read More →

32nd District Tournament Preview

By 8thRegionGuy - At the beginning of the season, folks thought that this would be Simon Kenton's district walking away. Not necessarily the case. The Grant County Braves (23-4) have had something to say about that with a 2 game sweep of the Pioneers in their seed games this year. The tournament will be @ Williamstown this year starting tonight with Grant County taking on the #4 seed Williamstown (3-22) @ 7. The #2 seed Simon Kenton (16-10) will have the #3 seed Walton-Verona (9-20) tomorrow night at 7. Thoughts: Williamstown is still a young team and although David Jump is the spark on that squad,... 5th District Tournament Preview

By The Scribe - The guys begin play Tuesday with three teams having a legitimate shot at winning the district title. Lyon County (14-15) earned the top seed when Trigg County lost consecutive games to them and Crittenden County in early January. The Lyons snapped a five-game losing streak Thursday with a win over 18-win Heath. The Lyons aren’t deep, but they maximize production from their starting five. Sophomore Jordan Gary leads the Lyons in scoring (14.1 ppg.) and assists (4.1) per game, while fellow sophomore guard Jericho Wilkerson is averaging 13 points, six rebounds, and shooting 38-percent... 10 Notes From The 10th Region (Who's Hot & Who's Not Edition)

By Randy Parker - Rather than spend our time exclusively reviewing the final week of the regular season, we want take a look across the 10th & see which teams are heading into the post-season with momentum & which teams are looking for (and need) a fresh start. Who's Hot? 1) There's no way to start a "Who's Hot?" in the 10th Region list with someone other than Montgomery County. The Indians have lost but 4 games on the season, with the last blemish coming at the hands of mighty Trinity on January 26th. Happy Osborne has the region's most talented roster & also its best player. It's going to take a... Read More →

9th Region District Tournament Previews

By Walter - 33rd District This year's 33rd district tournament will be held at Boone County high school. Here are the dates and match ups: Monday 2/18 7:00- Quarter-Finals Heritage Academy (7-16) v Conner (12-14) Conner should win this one going away as they are simply bigger, stronger, and overall more talented than Heritage. As Seth Davis would say "Sharpie" Conner in to the semi's to take on the Cooper Jaguars. Wednesday 2/20 6:00- Semi Finals Ryle (12-15) v Boone County (13-15) This will probably be one of the best first round match ups in the area for the simple fact of how close both... Read More →

37th District Tournament Preview

By Randy Parker - 2013 37th District Tournament Preview In the Season Preview we asked a series of 10 pressing questions regarding the 10th Region as a whole. One of those questions was this: Which two teams make it out of the loaded 37th District? We now get to look forward to having that question answered. We feel very certain we know one of those teams, but it's the battle for that coveted second spot in the 10th Region Tournament that will captivate fans over the next few days. Top-seeded Bishop Brossart went undefeated in District (and Regional) play and have held the #2 spot in 10th Region... Read More →

38th District Tournament Preview

By Randy Parker - 2013 38th District Tournament Preview February has not been kind to the 38th District. The four teams have thus far combined for a record of 5-14, with Nicholas County & Robertson County going 1-9. Even the District's upper half (Harrison County & Pendleton County) has managed only a 4-5 record. But the start of next week's District Tournament brings with it a collective mulligan for the quartet. Three-time defending champion Pendleton County hopes for a continuation of the post-season magic they have experienced over the last few seasons. Tournament host Harrison County has been... 39th District Tournament Preview

By Randy Parker - 2013 39th District Tournament Preview One of the two Districts in the 10th that doesn't seed its post-season tournament, the 39th has yet to see its top two teams go head-to-head. All that will change in a Tuesday night semi-final clash between host Mason County & tiny Augusta, the Region's smallest school in terms of enrollment. The Royals & Panthers have seemed on a collision course ever since Chris O'Hearn's squad turned back Jason Hinson's crew in last sesason's 72-71 title game. Last year both teams advanced to Regional play, but this season there will be only one. The Bracken... Read More →

40th District Tournament Preview

By Randy Parker - 2013 40th District Tournament Preview On paper the 40th District seems to be the 10th Region District with the least suspense. Happy Osborne's Montgomery County Indians have stood atop the Regional rankings for the entirety of the regular season. In District play the Indians have gone 6-0, winning by an average margin of 34 points per game in those outings. George Rogers Clark is the #2 seed, finishing District play at 4-2. The Cardinals are under-sized and certainly lack the talent they possessed in recent years. Still, Scott Humphrey's team plays its trademark sticky defense and... Read More →
