Highlands Bluebirds

By Walter - For the past 6 seasons there hasn’t been a more successful football program in the state of Kentucky than the Highlands Bluebirds. During that span, the Birds have won 6 consecutive state championships while compiling a record of 87-3. The Bluebirds are currently tied with Trinity for the most football state championships in Kentucky. Needless to say, this year’s team will once again have high expectations from not only the coaching staff but also the community. “ I think each off season gets a little better,” Said Highlands head coach Dale Mueller. “ I think the guys stand on the... Christian County Colonels

By The Scribe - Christian County head coach Steve Lovelace understands he is going to have to retool his offense this year with the graduation of most of his skill people. However, that adjustment will be made somewhat easier with the return of most of the line on both sides of the football. The Colonels are 58-21 in six seasons under Lovelace, including five straight 8-win seasons. But the veteran coach must replace quarterback Ryan Knight (2,300 yards, 27 TDs), running backs Korey Moseley (1,700 yards, 22 TDs) and Juan Jones, and leading receiver Jeff Alexander (30 rec., 700 yards). “We lost 25... Caldwell County Tigers

By DreamKiller - The 2013 football season looks to be an exciting one for this west Kentucky school. Following up a Class 2A State Runner-up finish in 2012 the Tigers should be highly ranked in most, if not all, of the state's ranking services considering the fact that the returning players played such a huge part in the Tigers getting to the 2A Finals in 2012. Caldwell County returns most of its key pieces on offense this year. Leading the way are a pair of juniors in the backfield in QB Elijah Sindelar and RB Jaylen Boyd, the defending Class 2A District 1 Player of the Year. Sindelar's numbers were quite... Read More →

Bell County Bobcats

By Les - Bell County Bobcats Expectations are high once again on Log Mountain, but for the first time since Wayne Mills took over for former coach Dudley Hilton three years ago, the Bobcats will have to depend on youth to carry them deep into post-season play. Sixteen seniors gradated from last season's team, including tail backs Ryan Collett and Jonathan Polly, who combined to rush for more than 2,800 yards on the ground. Bell County will also have to count on a young line with only one starter returning. After dominating the district action the past couple of years, the Bobcats will also be... Read More →

Cooper Jaguars

By Walter - While Cooper has improved each of their first 5 years as a program, this past season was athe most memorable one for Coach Randy Borchers and his 5A Cooper Jaguars. The Jags won a school record 13 games and made it all the way to the state championship game, where they fell 34-20 to Bowling Green. Success breeds more success though and Coach Borchers is already seeing the benefits of the deep post season run. “ Obviously us having such a good season last year has built our numbers,” Said Coach Borchers. “ We’ve got a lot of sophomores coming up and the excitement around our school and... The big question going around Hazard fans is how are the Bulldogs gonna do after losing the talent that made their offense go. They hope that 2013 is the year for the Bulldogs to bring home the state championship but being realistic they know it’s gonna be very difficult to do so. The Flyers loss in the Regional Final is not the place they wanted to end their season. Coach Tracy said he felt the lost the battle in the trenches against Cooper. The Flyers where lead last season by Mr. Everything Ryan Timmons and QB Logan Woodside. Both young men have moved on to play D-1 football.
