By All State Baseball - 1. Apollo (18-4): Apollo continues to reign supreme on the 3rd region. Apollo currently sits at 7-1 in the region splitting with region favorite Owensboro. The Eagles picked up two good wins last week, defeating Owensboro 79-75, which topped the loss earlier in the year to Owensboro 71-68. The Eagles had four different players to have double-doubles. Coach Sergeant and the Eagles would repeat the victory the very next day when they defeated Owensboro Catholic. By Les - Player of the Week Chad Marsee, Knox Central - What a week the sophomore center had for the Panthers. Marsee dominated the action against both Whitley County and Jackson County this past week, recording a double-double in each game. He scored 20 points and 12 rebounds during Knox rCentral's 70-46 win over Whitley County, and he turned in an even better game a couple of days later against red-hot Jackson County. By Randy Parker - Montgomery goes 3-0, becomes first team to beat Wayne After some lackluster performances in their previous three games, Jason Holland's Indians were impressive in three wins this past week. On Thursday night Bryan Wallace scored 17 points & dished out 8 assists as MoCo rolled past visiting Augusta 89-59. Two nights later the Indians put a similar pounding during a visit to North Hardin, coming home with an 86-60 win. By All State Baseball - Another week of Kentucky high school basketball has come and gone with some schools didnít get to play but one maybe two games due to bad weather wreaked havoc throughout the state. 1. Knott County Central (18-6): The Patriots went 3-1 this past week with wins over Cordia 70-61, Jenkins 72-25, Fleming County 73-62. The Patriots only loss came Wayne County 81-77 in the Jock Sutherland Classic over at Lexington Lafayette. They are also 9-0 against the 12th Region and 3-0 in their district. With the 33rd district being one of the most competitive and wide open districts in the state, there will be some movement in this week's top 10. Let's get right to it. 1. Still yet, this hasn’t been a week of much change in the 11th, as Scott County, Lafayette, and Lexington Catholic held serve. He started with a 22-point performance in the Eagles' impressive overtime win against St. Xavier on Tuesday. He followed that up with yet another 22-point performance in a victory over Southern. Not since last year's Sweet 16 semi-finals loss at the hands of Ballard had the Indians tasted defeat. That streak came to an end, but before the first L there came a pair of wins. First off was a Tuesday night trip to Scott where MoCo jumped out to a 16-4 lead & after the Eagles quickly pulled to within 3, extended the lead back to 16 at intermission. Pike County Central welcomed in Betsy Layne into Pike Central High School and in a big upset Pike County Central stunned Betsy Layne 44-40. Perry County Central defeated Letcher County Central 66-58. The Commodores had a 20+ lead on the Cougars before they pulled the starters and Letcher Central made a comeback.
