By spindoc - Now that the holiday tournaments are over let's look at the state of the 16th 1. How about the surprising Elliott County Lions? Leading the region with 9 wins, they went 2-1 in both tournaments they played in. They beat Greenup in the Our Lady of Bellefonte Classic at Greenup and host South Point (OH) as they come home and look to be the first to double digit wins. By All State Baseball - 1.Patriots go 2-2 in Republic Bank Classic @ Lexington Catholic Knott County Central made the trip to Lexington Catholic to participate in the annual republic bank holiday classic. Knott County Central got things started in the first round by demolishing Henry Clay 74-44. Evan Hall led the Patriots with 24 points while Tennessee commit Camron Justice added 23. He scored 19 points during Jackson County’s 81-56 win over South Carolina’s Chesnee High School, and followed that with an 18-point performance against Maryland’s Largo High School, who Jackson County defeated, 80-75. On Friday night against Bell County, the Indians found themselves trailing by 7 at the half, but thoroughly dominated in the second half, outscoring the Bobcats 45-20 on their way to a 66-48 win. By Les - Player of the Week Boys Tyler McDaniel, Clay County — The junior guard has averaged 14 points per game this past week, including a 20-point effort to lead Clay County to an 81-55 win over Fort Knox. Surprise, surprise? We’ve got Clay County sitting atop the 13th Region with an impressive 7-1 mark while Bell County and Barbourville are 6-2 on the season.
