Their last 4 wins have been done so in convincing fashion. 62-22 over #7 Lyon County, 65-28 over #9 Hopkins Central, 74-37 over district rival Union County and 74-44 over 3rd region power Muhlenberg County. A few teams in region have managed to keep scoring down and keep it close with the Lady Colonels but no one has truly challenged them to this point. By All State Baseball - 1.Hopkinsville (21-4): The Tigers keep on running through opponents, having won 14 straight. 12 of those 14 wins have been by double digits. Big News out of Hoptown: The Tigers picked up a game with nationally ranked #2 Findlay Prep out of Las Vegas NV. Bruce does a great job making sure our stuff is right when it gets back to us and I really appreciate that about him. As we popped open those boxes and got out our helmets, which always look new when they get back from the reconditioner, I felt like a little kid again. By Walter - With three weeks left in the regular season, the top 3 have pretty much remained the same, while one team has emerged a clear 4th best team in the region. Here are this week's rankings. 1. Covington Catholic (20-4) After a bit of an upset loss to South Laurel, the Colonels have won 8 straight and seem to be clicking on all cylinders, despite being without leading scorer CJ Fredrick. By 15th Region - Overview: The 57th district has been extremely fun this season and week nine did not disappoint. Timmy Dalton and Mason Blair continue to be top 20 in the nation in scoring per max preps. The top of the region is beginning to separate its self from the rest as post season rapidly approaches. Coach Russell's squad ran into a buzzsaw at state top-5 Covington Catholic last week, bringing an end to "the streak". Bertsch, Day and Hegyi tallied double figures and hung tough for the better part of three quarters, but CVH and crew were too much.
