Region 16 Week 2 Review: Lions Roaring

By Carson Palmer - The Elliott County continue to show why they were the consensus pick to win the 16th Region. The rest of the region continues to beat up on each other which makes for a very parity filled region that changes the rankings weekly. Let's take a look at our Week 2 ratings. 1. ELLIOTT COUNTY (5-0) The Lions notched two impressive wins over Greenup County and previously unbeaten Boyd County. Korbin Spencer and Tanner Dickerson continue to put up big numbers for the high octane Elliott offense. The Raceland Rams make a visit to Sandy Hook tonight in the Lions' only game this week. 2. ROWAN... Read More →

8th Region Week 2 Review: A New #1

By ColonelMike - Week 2 of the 2018-19 season is in the books, and there have been some interesting - some might even say, "surprising" - scores already. I prefer to say that they are "thought-provoking", because how this region is going to shake out this year continues to look like a mystery that won't be solved in December. Among the scores of note over the past week involving 8th region teams: North Oldham lost, 78-76 - but took #8 Ballard to the wire as the surprising Mustangs take a 4-2 record into week 3. Grant County and South Oldham played a nail-biter that South won, 80-75, after leading... Read More →

5th Region Week 2 Review

By Sportslover32 - 1. Larue County (4-0): The Hawks continued their winning way this week as they won three games to remain undefeated. They beat North Hardin at North 76-62, they beat district foe Hart County 74-47 at home, and beat Western in the 2A tourney 79-60. This team hasn’t disappointed so far, and they have looked like a region favorite should look like. Against Hart County, Anthony Adkins had 20 points and Mark Goode had 19 points. Larue’s big 4 of Adkins, Goode, Cox, and Davis is the best in the region. 2. Central Hardin (4-1): The Bruins got some good wins this week and they also suffered their... Read More →

(-) Johnson Central (1-0) – The Golden Eagles were idle in week two. Week three will see them host Shelby Valley before traveling to Tolsia, WV for the Rebel Classic. 9th Region Week 2 Review: Only one undefeated team left after a wacky week!!!!

By PP1 - Lots of exciting action this week in the 9th Region. Holmes and Highlands moved up a lot this week and we have a new #1 team. When looking at the region as a whole, we have only one undefeated team in Beechwood, six teams with only one win, and three teams yet to find a W. I know everyone has their own opinions on who is the best, so enjoy the rankings and analyze all you want. 1. Cooper (3-1): Despite the records and big wins, I’m not ready to move Beechwood or Highlands passed Cooper just yet. The #1 pick has been a hard one this week. A decisive victory against Conner and a narrow... Read More →

4th Region Week 2 Review: The Middle's A Mess But The Top Is Certain

By DragonFire - 1) Warren Central (2-0) - 12/4 81-68 W at Owensboro Previous Rank: 1 This Week: 12/10 at #3 Glasgow, 12/13 at #16 Franklin-Simpson Central played only one game this week thanks to Paducah pulling out of their game due to the ACT, but they stayed hot with an 81-68 victory at Owensboro, their second 80+ point effort of the year. Dre Boyd led the way with 19 points on 7/12 shooting, and a perfect 5-5 from the foul line to go with 13 rebounds. The win didn't come easy, as the Dragons trailed after the first and third quarters. A late surge was keyed by an Antonio Barbee basket coupled... Read More →

7th Region Review Week 2: Waggener beats Ballard; Central over Male; Trinity the best

By Smallhoops - The big news in the Seventh Region this week was Waggener’s 80-74 win over Ballard on Tuesday night, its first victory in 71 tries against the Bruins. Ballard Coach Chris Renner attended Waggener and had previously coached at Waggener, while Waggener Coach Bryan O’Neill attended Ballard and had both played for and coached with Coach Renner. It was a fun, competitive game between two well-coached teams. There was plenty of other action in the Seventh Region this week. Central beat Male 84-73 in a classic old school Seventh Region match-up Friday night. Trinity continued to show why it... Read More →

11th Region Week 1 Review

By mooremiller31 - The first week of the season has come and gone. The more things change the more they stay the same is a good theme for this week. While most of the normal power brokers remain near the top their have been some surprises. Overall it was a good first week for the 11th Region. Team Rankings 1. Scott County (3-0) - What a start to the season for the Cardinals! They knocked off 2 top 25 teams in the state in South Laurel and Ballard by 30 points each and then traveled to Marshall County for the Hoopfest and knocked off Olive Branch, Mississippi who was ranked in the preseason top 50 in the... 3rd Region Week 1 Review

By ApolloFan98 - With all of the turnover in the rosters, it was interesting to watch the results come in from the first week of action. A few things really jumped out. Owensboro Catholic was expected to be pretty talented but they may be even better than anyone had thought. They have enough talent to maybe make a dent in the Bluegrass Preps top 20 if they can play to their potential. Daviess County turned some heads, pushing a very good Madisonville team late into the 4th quarter before falling short. Lastly, Whitesville Trinity may have one of its most talented rosters in school history. It will be... Read More →

13th Region Week 1 Review

By Les - 1. South Laurel (1-1 overall, 0-0 vs. 13th Region competition) The Cardinals were able to rebound from their loss to Scott County and notch a big win during Friday’s Legacy Nissan Classic win over Tennessee’s Athens Prep. Junior Matthew Cromer scored 33 points in the 88-80 win while senior JJ Ramey added 28 points. The duo was also the leading scorers during South Laurel’s 96-65 loss to top-ranked Scott County. A loss is a loss, but I feel a whole lot better about this Cardinals team after I saw Scott County knock off No. 4 ranked Ballard by 28 points. 2. Knox Central (1-0, 1-0)... Read More →

10th Region Week 1 Review

By One Great Scorer - 1. Campbell County The Camels proved with 9 point win over GRC they are still the top dogs in the 10th Region. They lost the next day to Walnut Ridge, OH. Drew Wilson led the Camels in scoring I believe with 21 (stats not on KHSAA). Reid Jolly was in foul trouble early in the 1st half but still managed a double double. 2. George Rogers Clark They lost to Campbell County, but they are still tough to beat. Jordan Graham only scored 4 points in this one, Brennan Canada scored 13. They started off the week with a blowout over Bath County. 3. Scott Scott had led by 17 in the 2nd... Read More →

15th Region Week 1 Review

By 15th Region - Overview: The 15th Region saw one of their top teams push one of the best in the 16th to double overtime, a few teams stumble and some early surprises after one week of play. This will be a fun, competitive region to follow throughout the year. Updated rankings are as follows. Rankings (overall record): 1. (-) Johnson Central (1-0) - The Golden Eagles opened the season strong with a dominating win over Jackson County at home by a final of 81-52.
