Knott County Central would open up with Harlan County and like always, the Patriots would prevail. Knott Central would advance in the winners bracket to face Clay County in the second round. On Tuesday, the Royals went on a 15-0 run in the 3rd quarter to overcome a 6-point deficit, en route to a 71-57 win over Campbell County. It was a highly anticipated matchup of what was considered the 10th's top two squads, with Mason County senior forward Dorian Henry shining in the victory. There is no permanent home for the classic until the semi-finals and finals, which will be head at Perry County Central High School in Hazard. Out of all the teams in this year’s All “A” classic, Jackson City is the only team that will already be in the semi-finals. Hazard and Leslie County will await the winners of the play-in games. They have beaten Wayne County, Mason County, West Jessamine, and won the Gateway Holiday Classic this past month. As a team, the Patriots are averaging close to 70 points per game while holding opponents to 55 points. They are shooting 49.1% from the field, 33.3% from 3-point range, and 72.3% from the foul line. Despite losing their #2 scorer (12.2 ppg) and #2 rebounder (3.5 rpg) in 8th grader Dontaie Allen, who is likely out for the season, the Cats not only won 2 games, but won them in convincing fashion.
