There really is not any evident clear cut dominant team if the week 1 results continue. Lets look at the recap of the new Top 10: Team of the Week: Doss Player of the Week: Dujuanta Weaver 1. Starting next week, I’ll have more of an complete Notebook, but for now, let’s get to the 13th Region’s Top 10. 1. By Region 1 Basketball - Rankings after Week 1: 1.Calloway County, 2-0, nothing has changed with them. Until they get beat they will be #1. Parker Adams and Skyler Hunter led them in both victories. 2.Paducah Tilghman, 2-0, impressive wins last week. Fulton County appears to be not as good as expected but the Tornadoes rolled against them and the Comets. Balanced scoring was big for PT. They are going 9-10 deep. By GB32 - Top 5 as of 12/8/14 1. Rowan County- The Vikings bounced back from an opening loss to a talented Bryan Station squad with a win over West Carter in the EKC Tournament.. They will be tested in the EKC semis by a talented Morgan County squad. Guards Ryne Callahan and Larry Whelan had solid efforts versus West Carter. 2. Boyd County- The Lions got a huge opening season win over rival Ashland. it was also a seed win. Bobby Anderson displayed his range by draining four treys to lead the Lions to the win. Oldham County was clearly the team of the week; the pre-season region favorites roared through three games, averaging 85 ppg and shooting lights out (58% beyond the arc). Only six games were played in Week 1 between 8th region opponents, but that will change dramatically this week, as the 17 schools will combine for 11 games which will quickly begin to sort out the contenders from the pretenders. After a smooth and easy Tuesday night win vs. Calvary Christian, the Eagles downed visiting Pendleton County 85-67 on Wednesday. Leading by 1 at halftime, Scott outscored the Wildcats 23-2 in the 3rd quarter en route to the victory. Sophomore guard Jake Ohmer led the Eagles with 32, while senior guard Blake Schneider fired in 22 points. Knott County Central: The Patriots showed why they were the top team, not only in the 14th region but also in the mountains when they three teams in week one with one of those teams being a regional opponent. Knott County Central defeated Magoffin County 79-26 to open up the season on December 1st. Vanderbilt commit Camron Justice led the Patriots with 25 and was 3/7 from three point range. None made more of a statement as to the quality of teams in this years 12th region than Southwestern’s convincing win over 14th Region power and state ranked #19 Perry County Central 99-75. Trinity earns date with Dixie Heights in 6A Championship

By thsrocks - Trinity (9-5) defeated Meade County (11-3) 48-0 last Friday in Brandenburg. The Rocks now take a trip to Bowling Green’s Jimmy Feix Field. The stadium is located on the campus of Western Kentucky University. Kenton County’s Dixie Heights (13-1) is the foe in the KHSAA Class 6A Gridiron Bowl. The kickoff is scheduled for 7PM EST on Saturday, December 6. In the semi-state game played in Edgewood, senior quarterback Drew Moore (6’3” 180 lbs) led the Colonels to their 48-21 victory over Ballard (10-4). 2014-15 Kentucky High School Basketball Preview - 9th Region

By Walter - Last season was a banner year for not only Northern Kentucky basketball, but specifically the 9th Region. The region featured three top 10 teams, statewide, for the majority of the season with two of those teams winning state championships. The Newport Central Catholic Thoroughbreds won their second consecutive All “A” Classic State Championship, defeating Cordia 72-61 in the finals, while the Covington Catholic Colonels became just the third Northern Kentucky team to win a Sweet 16 State Championship.
