BluegrassPreps.com 2nd Region Week 9 Review & Rankings

By silo11 - Region 2 first big game between Christian County and Hopkinsville was a dandy, with County getting the upper hand in game one. The last two seasons, these teams played 4 times. Will it be the same this year, or will University Heights get in someone’s way. We have 3 weeks left until we find out! 1. Christian County – Coach Kerry Stovall *BGP #20 2017-18 record: 11-6 Week’s Record:1-1 Last Weeks Rank: 1 An up and down week for the Colonels, but one they will take. BluegrassPreps.com 1st Region Week 9 Review & Rankings

By silo11 - BluegrassPreps.com 1st Region Boys Basketball Review Week 9 There are times when basketball is the focus of all attention, then there are times where basketball doesn’t seem to matter at all. This past week, basketball became the latter throughout Kentucky, but more so in Region 1. After the tragedy at MCHS, teams from all around Western Ky gathered to pray and show support for the Marshall Family. That even spilled over to the basketball court where rivalries were laid aside and student sections were filled with blue and orange to show their support. It was an reminder that sports... BluegrassPreps.com 10th Region Week in Review 1-29-18

By mcpapa - No major surprises in the 10th last week. Number 1 took care of business, number 2 fell to one of the state's powerhouses by a mere bucket; and just about everyone stayed where they were at the start of the week. 1. Clark County (19-3, 8-1 region). Don't look now, but after starting the season trying to find themselves, the Cardinals have won nine straight and are 16-1 since falling at home to Campbell County way back on December 12. The Cards forced 20 turnovers and blocked 9 shots to begin the week with a 36-point thrashing of Tates Creek; with Ryan Cooper, Will Philpot and Jordan... Read More →

A ton of good games on the slate this week. Lets get right to it!! Team Of The Week Lexington Christian Academy - The Eagles are an easy pick for this weeks team of the week after winning the All A State Classic. Congrats to Coach Valentine and the rest of the Eagles for bringing home their first All A State Title. BluegrassPreps.com Seventh Region update and rankings - 1/29/18

By Smallhoops - All in all, this was not a great week for the Seventh Region. The eighteen Seventh Region teams combined to go 13-20 against teams from other regions this week. And the Region’s top-ranked team, Trinity, lost its second game of the season, a 53-52 loss to Madison Central. Of course, it was not all bad news for teams in the Seventh Region. Ballard went 3-0 for the week, including an impressive win over the Fern Creek Tigers from the Sixth Region. And the Collegiate Titans represented the Seventh Region well in the All A state tournament, beating Raceland in the first round before... Read More →

BluegrassPreps.com 5th Region Weekly Rankings (1/28/18)

By Sportslover32 - 1. John Hardin (17-5): Bruins started off the week with a loss, but ended the week with a big win. They lost to Adair County at Adair, 66-65. They beat Fort Knox 88-43 and beat Oldham County 73-46. They lost another region game, but beating a top 20 team in Oldham, was very big for them. Standout Mickey Pearson had 33 and 12 versus Oldham, as they lost to them earlier in the year, so that was an impressive bounce back win. John will get its chance at more revenge, as they play Elizabethtown at home this upcoming week. 2. Larue County (18-2): The Hawks continue to win, as they won all three... Read More →

BluegrassPreps.com 6th Region Weekly Rankings (01/29/2018)

By coachlee - Five 6th region teams have only a single loss to another 6th region team and those 5 are now ranked in the Top 5. As the rankings get toward the late part of the season, focus is going to be on regional records and which teams are likely to make noise in the tournament to advance to Rupp Arena. After all, what really matters is getting to Rupp in March and everything done up to that point will become a side note. So here are the new rankings with that thought in mind. 1. Doss (16-5): Doss has more regional wins than anybody else with an 8-1 record that is impressive considering they... Read More →

Bluegrasspreps.com 2018 - Inside the 8th Region 1-28-18

By ColonelMike - As we head into month #3 of the 2017-18 season, the 8th region continues to have no clear-cut favorite. The Big Three remain the Big Three - but all three are showing reasons why they should be number one - and reasons why they shouldn't be. Meanwhile, at least four schools are showing the ability to make a run for the 2018 title. If that's not cause enough for excitement, how about this: 7 of the top 8 teams appear headed for the Region 8 Tournament in New Castle, assuming no upsets in the district tournaments. I’ve been covering the 8th region since 1979….and I was watching it closely... Read More →

BluegrassPreps.com Region 16 Week in Review (1-28-18)

By 24Bricks - 16th Region Basketball in Review Teams in the 16th were able to play a full schedule for the first time in the last three weeks and it didn’t disappoint. I'm more convinced then ever that the total disparity in the region is minuscule. With Fleming County beginning to win games and the top teams looking vulnerable it appears the region is truly up for grabs. 1. Ashland (17-2) – The Tomcats came away with two victories this week, but both were hard fought and much closer than most, including myself, would have expected. Early in the week Ashland barely escaped with a 1-point win... Read More →

BluegrassPreps.com 4th Region Weekly Rankings (1/28/18)

By DragonFire - Fourth Region Rankings 1) Warren Central (18-3) - 1/23 69-56 W at #11 South Warren, 1/26 57-66 L #2 Bowling Green Previous Rank: 1 This Week: 1/30 vs. Taylor County, 2/2 vs. #7 Warren East, 2/3 at Elizabethtown A huge run in the second quarter decided each game for the Dragons this week. Unfortunately for them, only one of those was by them. The Dragons blew open the game against South Warren with a 19-1 run, turning a 4 point lead into 22 midway through the quarter. Perhaps it was ominous that the Dragons then sleptwalked through much of the rest of the game, including... Read More →
