11th Region Week 4 Review

By mooremiller31 - Another week has come and gone in the 11th Region. As has been all year long the top team remains the same and the rest of the region is starting to come together. We are in the middle of the holiday tournament season which means some interesting match ups and statement games for some of the programs in the area. Lets get to it! Team Rankings 1. Scott County (10-0) - The Cardinals continue to roll through the 2018 section of their schedule. This week they picked up 2 blowout victories over Fern Creek and Lafayette, two perinel power programs in our state. Michael Moreno, Diablo Stewart... Read More →

12th Region Week 4 Review: Top Three Teams Showing Separation

By TDC - Week 4 produced a change at the top, as previously undefeated Danville dropped their rematch with Wayne County 51-40 on a neutral site. An argument can still be made for either Danville or Wayne at the top, and Lincoln County is closing fast. There is currently a gap between these top three teams and the rest of the 12th Region, although any of the next six or seven teams have the potential to improve enough to join the group at the top. Holiday Season observations for the 12th Region: ∑ This Region was presumed to be down this year, and it may be, but perhaps not as much... Read More →

7th Region Week 4 Review: A New Number One? Not Yet

By Smallhoops - The 2018 King of the Bluegrass Tournament has come and gone, and it actually raised more questions than it answered, at least in terms of Seventh Region teams. Trinity lost twice, although the injury to David Johnson certainly played a role in that. Ballard lost only to the eventual champion, South Shore from Brooklyn, and its wins included a victory against Trinity. Male went 1-2 in the KOB, its sole victory coming against the host Fairdale Bulldogs. Aside from the KOB, St. X remained undefeated, Waggener continues to play well, and Central has won eight games in a row. So what does... Read More →

10th Region Week 4 Review

By mcpapa - The 10th didn't particularly distinguish itself last week, especially when facing 9th region competition. Last week's number one hangs on to the top spot, but by the slimmest of threads. I'm dutifully scratching my chin here as I ponder this week's rankings. 1. Campbell County (7-2, 2-0 region, 0-0 district). The Camels smoked Montgomery County by 33 and Holmes by 26 before falling at Beechwood by a single point in a game that this writer said last week would be a test. The loss to the Tigers was a nip-and-tuck affair that turned on a Reid Jolly charge late in the game. Jolly posted... Read More →

15th Region Week 4 Review: Top Heavy Region!

By 15th Region - Overview: Shelby Valley and Johnson Central both went undefeated in Holiday Classics, Paintsville brought home another tournament title to the region on a buzzer beater, Pikeville knocked off a top five team in the state and Sheldon Clark headed to Las Vegas in week four. The top of the region remains status quo as the gap between the first four and the rest has grown significantly. Below are the 15th Region rankings after four weeks of play. Rankings (overall record): 1. (-) Shelby Valley (8-0) – The Wildcats continue to shine behind the play of Cody Potter. This week Potter dropped... Read More →

10th Region Week 3 Review

By theguru - Courtesy of mcpapa 1. Campbell County (5-0, 1-0 region). In order to be the man, you have to beat the man; and the Camels have already taken on the other presumptive regional favorite in Clark County and come out on top. Their only loss on the season was to Walnut Ridge of Columbus. Reid Jolly has emerged as an early 10th region first-team selection; and averages a double-double (19.3 and 10.7) while shooting nearly 55% from the field. Senior guard Drew Wilson leads the squad in scoring at 21.5 (59% FG). Their biggest test this week will come at 8-1 Beechwood. 2. George Rogers Clark ... Read More →

2nd Region Review Week 3

By silo11 - While things at the top of Region 2 havenít changed a whole lot, there was quite a bit of activity in the middle and lower rankings of the region. Caldwell County is looking stronger as the season moves on and Dawson Springs, Livingston Central, and Lyon County have been so inconsistent. Here are the rankings for Week 3. 1. University Heights Academy Ė Coach Grant Shouse BGP#3 2018-19 record: 7-0 Weekís Record: 3-0 The Blazers had to work very hard to stay unbeaten this past week. It was the toughest scheduled week they have had this year, and Tandy shined once again leading his... Read More →

16th Region: Week 3 Review

By Carson Palmer - Another week of winning for Elliott County and Rowan County at the top of the region. The 3-12 slots continue to fluctuate from week to week. A big two weeks of holiday hoops may start to identify the true threats to Elliott County and the region crown. Several teams are participating in the Derby Classic at Raceland and The Kentucky Bank Challenge at Rowan County this week. 1. ELLIOTT COUNTY (6-0) The Lions had a light work week with only a lopsided win over Raceland. The big three of Korbin Spencer, Tanner Dickerson, and Gage Evans all had big games in the win over the Rams. The Lions... Read More →

6th Region Week 3 Review

By SportsLife - 6th Region Week 3 Review 1. Butler (6-2): The Bears split a pair of games in Week 3, beating 22nd District rival Western before falling to 7th Region title contender Male. Jadon Lamb, Maurice Tolley, Marquis Dorsey and Willard Minter combine to lead a balanced Butler offensive attack. 2. Jeffersontown (5-2): The Chargers split games in Week 3, falling to Spencer County before defeating Western. The duo of Blake Butler and Brandon Rayzer-Moore has emerged as a tough tandem for the Jeffersontown boys' basketball team. 3. Bullitt Central (5-1): The Cougars carry a five-game winning... 3rd Region Week 3 Rankings: Owensboro Catholic Remains Unbeaten

By ApolloFan98 - Heading into the holiday tournament season, Owensboro Catholic has established themselves as the clear front runners in this region. We should find out just how good they are this week, as they will be tested by 3 very good teams in OIT pool play. If they get through that, they'll have a difficult match up waiting for them in the finals with John Hardin and Bowling Green on the opposite side of the bracket. 1.Owensboro Catholic Aces (6-0) - SAME The Aces continued with their hot start, knocking off Daviess County in their lone game this week. John Parker led the Aces with 23, but it... Read More →

5th Region Week 3 Review: Hawks and Bulldogs are at the top once again.

By Sportslover32 - 1. Larue County (6-0): The Hawks continued its dominance this week with two more blowout wins. They beat Doss at home 76-53 and beat district foe Caverna on the road 82-47. Larue has been as good as advertised as they have not had a close game all year so far. The Hawks have so much size and strength that just overpowers most teams they play. Against Doss, Noah Davis led the Hawks with 23 points as he also hit 5 threes in the win. We will learn a lot about how good Larue is this week, as they will be playing in the King of the Bluegrass. 2. John Hardin (5-0): The Bulldogs proved they are a... Read More →

13th Region Week 3 Review

By Les - 1. South Laurel (6-1 overall, 3-0 vs. 13th Region competition) The Cardinals are winners of six straight and picked up two big wins this past week over rivals Corbin and North Laurel, but something still isnít clicking with coach Jeff Davisí team. JJ Ramey and Matthew Cromer have been impressive at time while Brett Norvell and Alex Hostettler has been turning heads at time, too. South Laurel will be tested the next two weeks by participating in the Simon Kenton Invitational along with their own Legacy Nissan Dribble Drive Tournament. 2. Clay County (7-0, 3-0) The Tigers continue to... Read More →

11th Region Week 3 Review

By mooremiller31 - At this point in the season the only thing certain about the 11th Region is it seems everyone is playing for 2nd place!! Just when you think you have a solid #2 team things go crazy this week and the argument can be made you could put 10 teams in a hat and pull them out randomly to rank 2-12 in this crazy region! Lets get to the nonsense that ensued this past week. Team Rankings 1. Scott County (7-0) - The Cardinals continue to mow down opponents early in the season. This past week they did get a decent test at Lexington Catholic but prevailed by 16 and then ended the week by blasting... Read More →

8th Region Week 3 Review: Surprises, Upsets, and General Chaos

By ColonelMike - The 8th Region saw a week of craziness this past week. As I promised you in the preseason rankings, I expected significant movement among many teams this year - and this year's third ranking reflects that. Sometimes, multiple "upsets" (and we could debate how many of the games I've highlighted, below, were true upsets, and how many weren't.) leave you with a poll that isn't changed much. But there is some movement this week, although there is no change at the top. Games like the following keep things interesting. And they've certainly generated significant debate across the region. ... Read More →

9th Region Week 3 Review: A couple highs and more then a couple of lows.

By PP1 - An odd week in the 9th. Some teams did really well, while others certainly did not. A nice story is the news that Bellevue has a new 3-point leader in Ratterman. Some of those small towns in Campbell County have been able to produce pretty decent basketball players over the years. As far as the rankings go there is a lot to talk about from 7-11. I expect some discord and I dove into the numbers as best I could. Throw questions my way and Iíll be happy to explain, 1. Cooper (6-1): Cooper had a great week with wins over Ryle, Beechwood, and Fern Creek. Coach Sullivan and the Jags had a... Read More →
