49th, 50th, 51st and 52nd District Previews

By Les - Believe it or not, the post-season is here, and with that said, you’ll be seeing a tad bit different type of notebook in today’s version. There will be no Boys or Girls Player of the Week. Nope, since it’s post-season time, it’s time to hand out my district awards, while taking a look at each district tournament picture along with my handy-dandy predictions. It should be fun, to say the least. With that said, here we go. Boys 49th District Player of the Year Jordan Fox, Jackson County — Fox turned in a solid season for the Generals, leading them to the 13th Region’s most wins so... Read More →

2014 57th District Tournament Preview

By All State Baseball - 2014 57th District Tournament Preview The 2014 54th District Tournament should be a fun one. Johnson Central is the favorite but donít count out Lawrence County or Sheldon Clark. Sheldon Clark owns a victory over the Golden Eagles but other than that the Golden Eagles have dominated this district. Johnson Central is the host of this year's 57th District Tournament. 1. Johnson Central: Coming into the preseason the Golden Eagles were the favorite to repeat as region champs and they are making a strong statement, on an 8 game win streak and have won 9 of their last 10 games. 2014 10th District Tournament Preview

By All State Baseball - 2014 10th District Tournament Preview The 2014 10th District Tournament can go anyway, no standout favorite, so whoever comes to play will walk away with the trophy. Should be a fun and exciting district tournament. The 10th District Tournament will be held at the Owensboro Sportscenter. 1. Ohio County: The Eagles have a first round bye and an automatic bid to the 3rd region tournament. The Eagles currently stand at 13-12 overall and 2-2 in district play. By All State Baseball - 2014 9th District Tournament Preview The 2014 9th District Tournament is a two team race between Apollo and Owensboro. 62nd District Preview

By spindoc - The 62nd may be the best district tourney in the commonwealth. I didn't say the best four teams, I said the best tournament. East Carter, West Carter, Morgan, Elliott, really, who would be surprised if any of the 4 won? I suppose that one could assume Elliott the favorite considering they are 5-2 vs. district opponents, however, they just split with West Carter, their first round opponent. Or maybe East Carter who has recently split with Morgan their first round opponent could be the one cutting down the nets. Of course Morgan has beaten East 2 out of 3 if you consider the EKC victory... Read More →

61st District Preview

By spindoc - Arguably the most compelling of the 16th region districts are on tap for Tuesday Feb. 25 in Fleminsburg as the regional finalists from a year ago prepare to try and make that happen again in 2014. Schedule Tuesday 6:00 Fleming vs. Menifee Tuesday 7:30 Rowan vs. Bath Finals Friday 2/28 at 7:00 With all due respect to Menifee who comes in at 4-21 on the season and Bath who brings a 7-22 mark into the district tournament, it would take a monumental upset for either to advance. Menifee lost by 31 at Fleming in late January and Bath has been trounced twice by Rowan. Again, tough... Read More →

By All State Baseball - 2014 56th District Tournament Preview The 2014 56th District Tournament should be a fun exciting one for the teams in it. Everyone seems to think that Estill County shouldnít have a problem winning it but that wonít be the case, all games should be close from start to finish. This could be one of the better districts in the 14th region this season. 1. Estill County: The Engineers have defeated every team in the district twice this season and defeated Owsley County three times, do to one of the games being played in a tournament. Coach Bentley is in his 4th season as Estill County... Read More →

2014 55th District Tournament Preview

By All State Baseball - 2014 55th District Tournament Preview The 55th District Tournament is usually a two team race between Breathitt County and Wolfe County (pending they donít draw each other in the first round) if luck is on Jackson Cityís and Riverside Christianís side and Wolfe and Breathitt draw each other (wonít happen this year as neither team drew each other) then Jackson City gets a trip to the regional tournament but for the most part, itís usually Breathitt and Wolfe in the championship game. 2014 54th District Tournament Preview

By All State Baseball - 2014 54th District Tournament Preview The 54th District Tournament usually is one of the better district tournamentís in EKY. Previous years have seen Perry County Central and Hazard draw each other in the first round, however this is not the case this year. This district can go three ways. 1. Perry County Central: The Commodores finished the regular season at 3-1 in district play with two of those wins coming against crosstown rival, Hazard, the other win coming on the road at Buckhorn. Perry Centralís only loss came to, crosstown Hazard. The Commodores are the defending 54th... Read More →

By All State Baseball - 2014 53rd District Tournament Preview The 54th District Tournament has been a three team race past couple of seasons between Knott County Central, Cordia and Letcher County Central, with both Knott County Central and Cordia advancing to the regional tournament. Knott County Central, however is the top dawg in this district. 1. Knott County Central: The Patriots are the top team in this district. Over the past four years, the Patriots are a combined 34-1 against district opponents. During that span, the 53rd district title has called Knott County Central home. This year should be no... 2014 13th District Tournament Preview

By DragonFire - The 13th District was much like the 15th District was this year, in that on any given night you didnít have the slightest clue who was going to win in a district matchup. #1 seed Logan County swept #2 Russellville but split with both #3 Todd County Central and #4 Franklin-Simpson. Russellville swept the two bottom teams, but lost out on the top seed by virtue of the head to head with Logan County. And Todd County Central needed to win a coin flip to break a tie with Franklin-Simpson for the 3 seed after splitting their regular season games by a combined 3 points. Parity reigned supreme in... Inside 14th Region (2/23/14)
