Beechwood Tiger Insider - Week Six

By EyeOfTheTiger - Week Five Recap The Tigers were on the road again last week but the trip was much shorter than the previous week's trip to Franklin County. Last week it was just down Dixie Highway to Covington to take on the Holmes Bulldogs. Holmes was 3-1 with their only loss to the undefeated Scott Eagles. Beechwood needed a win to stay above .500 on the season. This game featured a lot of speed on both sides of the ball. The Tigers offense went 3 and out on their first possession, but then scored on their next four possessions in the first half to take control of the game. Sophomore QB Kyle Fieger led... St. Xavier Insider- week 6

By AvidTiger - This past week, the tigers improved their record to 4-2. They travelled to the beehive and escaped with a w thanks to the play of junior qb, Noah Houk. Nagle was pulled towards the end of the second quarter due to his dismal performance. He fumbled the ball away in the redone and was immediately benched. Noah was then inserted and revived the offense. Noah finished the night 7-11 for 142 yards and a pair of td tosses. Hayden led all receivers with 91 yards and 1 td. Walker had 13 carries for 68 yards, 1 receiving td and a 62 yard punt return td negated by a personal foul. Davis led the... Read More →

Inside South-Central Kentucky Football (9-30-13)

By DragonFire - Inside South-Central Kentucky Football (9-30-13) -Thereís really not much to be said about Bowling Greenís (5-0) 58-0 victory over Barren County (1-5). It was the first true walkover this year for the Purples, and they utilized the time to get some utility players some work. Oh, Hayes still got 259 yards and 5 TD passes and Fant had a mere 92 yards and 2 TDs, but other players got in the mix too. With Blue Tisdale out, players like Jamale Carothers (4/50) and Trey Boards (2/52/1) got to carry the ball, as 7 different Purples got at least one carry. Backup QB Campbell Gott got some work... Getting a College Football Scholarship - Part 3

By Ram - This is part three of a four part series on college recruiting and scholarship acquisition. This is a topic that is widely misunderstood and complicated. Every year, I know of several players who could have received money for college though football but could not because they were not educated in the recruiting process. What needs to be done, and when? Freshman Like I said, the process starts when the player is a Freshman. The player needs to focus on making great grades. Grades will be important. The player also needs to focus on taking College preparation classes and ACT... Read More →

Inside North-Eastern Kentucky Football (9-29-13)

By Ram - The Week in Review: For the most part, this week in North-Eastern Kentucky was a yawner. All but, one game was pretty much a forgone conclusion, with the outcomes highly predicable. Fairview remains unbeaten. Lewis continues to surprise some, but as I predicted, they are doing well and will have several more games prior to their matchup that will determine second place in the district, versus Russell. Ashland is improving and will be a much better team by playoff time. Let’s take a look at what happened this week. Lawrence County 38 Raceland 35 Did I say they all were predictable?... Read More →

By Les - Week Five is now over, and this we do know — Corbin remains the lone team in the Southeastern Six unbeaten at 5-0 while teams such as Harlan County (3-3), Bell County (3-3) and Whitley County (0-6) are struggling. Both Williamsburg (3-2) and Knox Central (4-2) picked up wins last week, but they are still searching for some consistency heading into the remainder of the season. Southeastern Six Player of the Week Skyler Griffith, Williamsburg Griffith played a big role in the Yellow Jackets’ 50-20 win over Harrison County Friday by catching a pass for a touchdown (one-yard), returning a... Battle of the unbeatens ó Can Wayne sustain its momentum against Corbin?

By Les - Obstacle No. 1 is out of the way for Shawn Thompsonís Wayne County Cardinals, and now they have another tough test in Week 6 against unbeaten Corbin. A win over the 5-0 Redhounds would almost assure Wayne County its respective districtís top seed with remaining district games against Casey County and McCreary Central, but if Corbin can pull off the upset, the Redhounds would have the inside track to the districtís top seed. But this we do know ó itís going to be awful hard to beat Wayne County. The Cardinals handed the Bobcats their worst loss of the season with a 41-6 win this past week,... Read More →

By Toothpick - As week #6 rolls around, the 5-0 Mayfield Cardinals find themselves still atop the BGP polls as they prepare to play 6A Marshall County. The run to 5-0 is a feat that even diehard Cardinal fans would find pleasantly surprising this year. The wins were all against larger class schools and 4 of the 5 were ranked.
