By mcpapa - The victory train keeps rolling (mostly) for the region's top dogs. It's February, and the district tournaments are right around the corner. The Eagles are the new Super Bowl champions - will a bird represent the 10th at Rupp Arena in a few weeks? Here's a quick peek at last week. 1. Clark County (22-3, 10-1 region). The Cardinals ran their win streak to a dozen with a trio of wins. First was a surprisingly close 66-62 triumph over district for Bourbon County in which they lost most of a 20-point lead. Ryan Cooper had a team-high 19 in the game, Will Philpot had a dozen and Brennan... Read More → 15th Region Week 10 Recap and Rankings (2/5/2018)

By 15th Region - Overview: Ten weeks are in the books and district tournaments begin in just fourteen days across the state. At this point in the season sports fans usually have the regional winners narrowed down to two or maybe three favorites, but that’s not the case in the 15th. Seven teams have a legitimate shot at winning the region this season. Let’s see what happened after ten weeks of play. Rankings: 1. Pikeville (17-6) – The Panthers went 2-1 in week ten with wins over Jenkins and Harlan County (away and home respectively) and a loss on the road to Floyd Central 49-58. In the Floyd Central... By ColonelMike - We're down to the final two weeks of the 2017-18 regular season, and the 8th region favorite is.... LOL! Right now, we are looking at a region tournament that will likely feature at least five teams sporting 20+ wins, and probably two of the remaining three will have 18-20 wins. Considering that the "favorite" hasn't won the event since Oldham County took the title in 2012, it might be just as well for all involved that nobody wears the role of undisputed favorite today. As for who should be considered the favorite...reasonable people can surely disagree this year. If you... Read More →

By ApolloFan98 - With just 2 weeks left in the regular season, things at the top of the region have tightened up a little bit. As usual, the 9th district looks like it is going to be a dog fight. Ohio County is surging in the 10th, but don't sleep on that first round matchup against Mclean. In the 11th district, Meade can secure the 1 seed with a win over Hancock this week, setting up a Hornets vs Tigers showdown. In the 12th, good luck. Its as wide open as ever. Any 2 of the 4 teams could make the trip to the Sportscenter. 1.Owensboro Red Devils (16-6) – SAME – The Devils slipped up a little this... Read More → 12th Region Rankings 2/5/18

By coachlee - The end of the season draws near as only 2 weeks remain before tourney play begins. We learned several things so far, most impressive is that Doss, Fern Creek, and Butler all could very well be Top 10 teams in the State of KY. Any of these 3 could end up heading to Rupp in a month from now without surprising anybody if they do. The rankings this week shake out with the top 9 teams in solid clusters of three and within each cluster those three teams are very close to each other. Cluster 1 is Doss, Fern Creek and Butler. Cluster 2 is Fairdale, Valley, and PRP. Cluster 3 is DeSales,... Read More → Seventh Region update and rankings - 2/5/18

By Smallhoops - The calendar has flipped over to February, meaning district tournaments can’t be too far away. In fact, a mere two weeks are left in the regular season. With several district games having been played this week, the pairings for the district tournaments have come into focus. But we still have the regular season to complete. This week presents us with plenty of good games, none more interesting than the Ballard-Waggener match-up. Ballard and Waggener are about 3.5 miles from each other. Since Ballard opened in the early 1970’s, Ballard and Waggener have played each other 69 times,... Read More → 5th Region Weekly Rankings (2/5/18)

They beat Elizabethtown 84-81, they beat Taylor County at Taylor 74-59, and lost to number 1 ranked Scott County 84-59. John Hardin locked up the 1 seed in the district tourney with their win over Elizabethtown. Guard Aaron Scott stepped up in the district game by scoring 23 points. John also added Anthony Witherspoon back from suspension this week. This isn’t good news for the rest of the 5th region. 2. Covington Catholic Record Book - Recent Changes

By Colonels_Wear_Blue - Covington Catholic's record book has seen a few notable changes since head coach Scott Ruthsatz took over the school's basketball program in the 2011/12 season - most notably due to the presence of players Cole VonHandorf and Nick Ruthsatz. Not only are they the #1 and #2 scorers, respectively, in the school's 1,000 Point Club, but the two of them also combine for possession of nine of the Colonels Basketball Program's thirty-one total individual records. That should come as little surprise if you take into consideration the fact that Nick and Cole were both absolutely integral in leading... Read More →
