BluegrassPreps.com 10th Region Week in Review 1-15-18

By mcpapa - Not a lot of activity to report as just about all weekend action was postponed or cancelled last week due to inclement weather. A couple of key matchups played out in the All-A tournament in Carlisle. One of our small schools looks to get key players in the lineup, with big potential impact on how the 39th district ultimately plays out. Hopefully the weather cooperates this week and some impact players can get well. 1. Campbell County (16-2, 7-0 region). The Camels won a pair of laughers last week and are currently riding a 5-game winning streak. First was a 39-point drubbing of... Read More →

Bluegrasspreps.com 2018 - Inside the 8th Region 1-15-18

By ColonelMike - Last week turned out to be very disappointing to the 8th Region basketball fan. Several games that would have been very interesting were cancelled or postponed by the weather….which didn’t even turn out to be all that bad. Still…some key games got played…Spencer County went to Oldham County, failed to respond to the opening bell and nearly got run out of the gym in the first half, only to mount a ferocious rally in the second half that fell just short in a stirring finish….. Collins got a solid win over South Oldham, just days after South had upset Oldham County. Were the Dragons... Read More →

BluegrassPreps.com 5th Region Weekly Rankings (1/15/18)

By Sportslover32 - 1. John Hardin (14-3): John only played once this week, but they got a big district win. They beat Central Hardin, at Central Hardin 83-62. The Bulldogs did this without their second leading scorer in Malik Wright, serving his second game suspension due to an ejection. Standout player Mickey Pearson had 30 and 11 versus Central. Central Hardin had been playing very well, but John just continues to show why they are the heavy favorites in the 5th region. 2. Larue County (14-1): The Hawks played a 5th region opponent, and took care of business with a blowout win. They beat Fort Knox 90-53.... Read More →

BluegrassPrep's 13th Region Rankings (1-15-18)

By Les - 1. Knox Central (15-1 overall, 6-0 vs. 13th Region opponents) The Panthers are rolling along with an eight-game win streak, and they still haven’t lost to an in-state team this season. Knox Central will face four tough opponents coming up with a road game against Harlan County Tuesday and another road game against Corbin Friday. They’ll host Frederick Douglass next week before hitting the road to face Knox Central. 2. Corbin (12-3, 6-1) The Redhounds are winners of four straight since their loss to Knox Central. They’ll get a chance for some revenge Friday when they host the Panthers for... Read More →

BluegrassPreps.com's Seventh Region update and rankings - 1/15/18

By Smallhoops - The 71st Louisville Invitational Tournament is in the books, although the story will have no ending. Weather forced cancellation of the semi-finals and finals, leaving everyone to wonder what might have happened in the potential rubber match between Trinity and Fern Creek. Perhaps those teams will face-off again in Lexington later in the season. This week brings the All A Seventh Region tournament, being held at Louisville Collegiate. I posted a preview of that tournament on Sunday. It has the potential to provide some very good basketball. Otherwise, teams get back to their... Read More →

Bluegrasspreps.com 16th Region Week 7 in Review

By 24Bricks - 16th Region Basketball in Review Winter weather in the 16th Region disrupted the All A tournament and a number of regular season matchups, but still left plenty of time for a number of entertaining games. Following the theme of the year, every game played beyond the top 3 teams was a toss-up, with no clear leader emerging outside Boyd County and Ashland, with Morgan proving very consistent with it’s schedule. Outside that the transient property of wins can be used to make any team clearly superior or inferior depending on the path taken. 1. Ashland (15-1) – Ashland won... Read More →

Preview of the All A Seventh Region tournament

By Smallhoops - With the LIT suffering a disappointing early termination, I have turned my attention to the ALL A Seventh Region tournament being played this week at Louisville Collegiate. The makeup of the regions are a little different for the All A than for the KHSAA post-season tournament; while Whitefield Academy is in the Sixth Region for KHSAA alignment, it plays in the Seventh Region in the All A tournament. Portland Christian and Shawnee are in the Seventh Region for KHSAA purposes, but play in the Sixth Region in the All A tournament. In fact, Portland Christian and Shawnee play each other in... BluegrassPreps.com 4th Region Weekly Rankings (1/13/18)

By DragonFire - Fourth Region Rankings 1) Warren Central (15-2) - 1/9 57-47 W Hopkinsville, 1/11 66-56 W at #3 Bowling Green Previous Rank: 1 This Week: 1/16 vs. #7 South Warren, 1/19 at #11 Greenwood The Dragons faced a pair of 4th quarter challenges, and while it wasn't pretty in either case, they gutted out two wins to push their win streak to seven. The two games were eerily similar in their breakdown. Central held identical 48-32 leads in the third quarter before each opponent turned on the pressure, forcing miscues and climbing back into the game. The only difference is that Bowling Green... BluegrassPreps.com 11th Region Week 6 Recap and Rankings

By mooremiller31 - A HUGE week of games on the docket this week in the 11th Region. A lot of district matchups that will help determine seeds and set the tone for the stretch run. The top teams in the region continue to distance themselves from the pack. Team of the Week -Lexington Catholic The Knights get this weeks team of the week. Lexington Catholic finished the week 2-0 with wins over LCA and St. Henry but the win over LCA really stands out. In the always tough 43rd District the Knights have established themselves as the team to beat by starting the season 2-0 in District with another big one looming... Read More →

Bluegrasspreps.com 2018 - Inside the 8th Region 1-8-18

By ColonelMike - It's been just a short few days since my last update, so I'll keep this relatively short....but a lot happened over the past few days, particularly last Friday night when we had a lot of key games with significant results. At the bottom, I've included a short preview of the 8th Region All-A, which starts Tuesday at Owen County HS. Overall observation: The region has some clear favorites, but the gaps between the teams have narrowed. We are seeing some teams that are red-hot and others with high upside that are improving dramatically and rapidly. There are a number of teams that are... Read More →

BluegrassPreps.com 10th Region Week in Review 1-8-18

By mcpapa - Week five is in the books. School is back in session - unless you're covered with half an inch of ice. All-A tournaments have started. And the top spots in the 10th region remain unchanged. 1. Campbell County (14-2, 7-0 region). The Camels dispatched a pair of region foes last week, short-handed both times. First was a 77-68 win over Mason County at The Fieldhouse that saw Coach Russell's squad outscore the Royals by 15 points over the last six and a half minutes of the game. With Reid Jolly still out, Tanner Clos poured in 29, and was backed up by Joel Day's 12. Drew Wilson added... Read More →
