14th Region Tournament Preview

By All State Baseball - Itís that time once again, post season in basketball. Weíve had a lot of good games throughout each region this season and the 14th region is no different. People may feel and believe that there is only one heavy favorite in Perry Central but I feel different. You have Knott Central who won the region 4 straight years going into last season, Wolfe County who only lost to Knott Central, who people think is the only team that can give the Commodores a run for the regional crown, by 5 earlier in the season. Breathitt County who only lost by 9 to Perry Central on Breathittís own home floor, the... Read More →

2nd Region Tournament Preview & Predictions

By WKY - Power Rankings 1. Henderson County (24-5, 9-1) Despite losing to Webster County in the 6th District championship game, the Lady Colonels are still the team to beat in this tournament. They have the best player in the region in Alisha Owens and they surround her with outstanding shooters. It will take a special game plan and a special performance, much like Webster County was able to do, to beat this team. 2. Webster County (19-12, 12-3) The Lady Trojans pulled off one of the biggest upsets in postseason play so far in the state. It was the 1st time they have won a district championship in... My plan for getting fired

By ChiefSmoke - I like to plan for everything(Bill Walsh influence).... even "what to do if I am getting ready to get fired." In September of 2012, we had lost 7 games in a row(going back to 2011), and #7 was the ugliest of all. John Combs was a sophomore and I began to be concerned that I was not going to be able to be his coach all through high school because we were performing so poorly. So, the thought went through my mind, "If I am about to get fired, how am I going out and how do I want to be remembered?" This is what I came up with: 1- I wanted the kids to say that I never blamed them for the... Read More →

Does the Northern Kentucky Boys Basketball Coaches Assoc. need to look in the mirror?

By theguru - The NKBBCA (Northern Kentucky Boys Basketball Coaches Association) announced their all-conference team this past weekend. Coaches from Dixie, Cooper, Covington Catholic, Ryle, Boone County, Campbell County, Simon Kenton, Conner, and Scott voted. One player, Covington Catholic's top player and D1 recruit CJ Fredrick, was voted as the 8th best player among those 9 schools. I spoke to numerous NKY Basketball Experts and NKY Basketball Coaches about CJ Fredrick being ranked 8th and below are their comments: "This is an example of a group either not seeing a player enough, putting too much... Inside the 9th Region: District Tournament Preview

By Walter - Let's be honest, we all know how the top 3 will look each week when it comes to the 9th region. In this week's edition of "inside the 9th Region," we preview each district and rank those teams, before getting to a final top 10 players list. 33rd District at Boone County 33rd District Bracket 1. Cooper (23-4) The Jaguars enter the district tournament as one of the top two teams in the region after closing out the season with wins over Dixie... Read More →

Inside the 8th region Final Edition

By 8th Region Warrior - With the regular season wrapping up, it is tourney time in the Bluegrass State. Games got under way last night, with mostly 4/5 seed play in games, however some were 1 vs. 4 seeds. Everyone likes looking forward to Wednesday games because generally that is 2 vs. 3 and in our region there are some games on slate that will send 3 of our top 6 teams home already and make someone's path a lot easier in getting to Rupp Arena. It is an absolute blast to cover this region, I do it for the kids and I hope it has been a good read for BGP. Let us not forget that there are some awful good seniors... Read More →

Inside the 12th Region Final Edition

By SHS Future - 12th Region Basketball The 2016-2017 season started on November 28th and twelve weeks later the regular season has come to an end. The post season is upon us and itís win or go home. This season has proven that there is no true favorite in the 12th Region. Although Pulaski County has held the #1 spot for most of the year, they have shown vulnerability down the stretch. Southwestern is picking up momentum at the right time and currently sits in the top spot to end the regular season. But, donít count out Mercer County or Lincoln County because both of those teams are capable of putting... Read More →

1st Region District/Region Preview

By silo11 - Now the regular season has finished, we are ready for district and region tournaments. In the preseason, Graves County was a top the rankings. They have moved a little up and down, but finish they season at the top. The season played out as expected as the top teams proved their worth. Now they must take care of business in the district tournaments so they can meet each other at Murray State’s CSB Center. The prize for the region 1 winner at Rupp in the Sweet Sixteen, most likely Bowling Green…ugh. Gotta hate that draw, (McCracken lost the BG by 32 points in the regular season and... Read More →

Grayson avenged the loss on 2/10, winning 48-39. Should be a toss up game with a slight advantage going to Butler because they are at home. Edmonson should be the favorite. 2nd Region District Tournaments Preview & Predictions

By WKY - 5th District Tournament @ Trigg County 2/20 6:00 PM #2 Lyon County (18-9) vs. #4 Trigg County (6-19) The Lady Lyons have put together a nice record considering what they graduated last year. They are still a tough defensive team in the half court and still shoot the ball well. The Lady Cats have had to endure yet another rebuilding season, only capturing region wins against Fort Campbell. Their first 2 matchups saw Lyon County walk away victorious by double digits. I would expect more of the same in this matchup. Lyon County by 10-15 points. 2/20 7:30 PM #1 Crittenden County (23-7) vs.... Read More →

Inside the 15th Region (Final Rankings / Awards / District Preview)

By 15th Region - 2016-2017 15th Region Season Review - District Tournament's Preview 15th Region Overview: This has been one of the most competitive and fun seasons in many years within the 15th. There have been no truly dominate teams that can compete with anyone in the state, but they have been able to have some great games amongst themselves. Johnson Central, Magoffin County, Sheldon Clark, and Pikeville have all separated themselves as favorites as it would not be shocking if any of them made the trip to RUPP Arena. South Floyd, Lawrence County, and East Ridge have established themselves as solid... Read More →

Inside the 6th Region (02/20/2017)

By coachlee - The regular season is completed and now the real fun starts. Teams are all 0-0 and elimination games can cause teams to fight like their season is on the line which it is except for District Championship games. This upcoming week is District week in the 21st, 22nd, 23rd, & 24th where host schools like Fairdale, DeSales, North Bullitt, & Bullitt East all are hoping they will be able to leverage their home courts to advance to the Regionals which are held at Valley High School for both the 6th & 7th Regions. 4th Region Final Rankings and Postseason Preview (2-20-17)

By DragonFire - Final Rankings and Postseason Preview 1. Bowling Green (27-2) High Rank - 1, Low Rank - 1, Average Rank - 1 Itís been 23 straight weeks at the top of the region rankings for Bowling Green, which is unsurprising given their 43 game region winning streak. The Purples have done nothing the entire year to besmirch their reputation as the frontrunner in the region, and as one of the most dominant teams in the state. The season has tracked remarkably similar to last yearís run. The Purples dropped a couple of games in the King of the Bluegrass, and didnít lose again until the postseason. ... Read More →
