Boone County Rebels Football 2014 Football Preview

By Walter - It was a rough first year at the helm of Boone County Rebels football for new head coach Jeff Griffith as his team went winless, while being defeated by an average score of 40-10. The motto of last year's team was "Restore the Order." What was once one of the top 3 programs in Northern Kentucky, Boone County is still looking to "Restore the Order" after a 1-10 season in 2012 and 0-11 showing in 2013. Coach Griffith talked about the change in the program this off season. " We just wanted to go in to our off season in January and get an investment and commitment from the players... Read More →

Caldwell County Tigers 2014 Football Preview

By DreamKiller - What can you say about a team that averaged over 50 points per game last year and went undefeated until the regional finals, and returns all of its skilled weapons? First off, you can say that this year's Tiger team has more speed and another year of experience under its belt. An exciting 2013 season was cut short on a very cold, very rainy November night at Tiger Stadium by a very good Murray Tigers team. The Tiger players, coaches, and fans are ready to put that out of their minds and move on to 2014 with a chip on their shoulder and their goal this season is nothing short of bringing home... Highlands Bluebirds 2014 Football Preview

By Walter - For the first time in seven years, the Highlands Bluebirds will enter the season as not defending state champions, but state runner up. The Bluebirds lost to Collins 37-34 in the 2013 state championship after winning 6 consecutive titles. The biggest storyline of the off season, however, was the retirement of long time head coach Dale Mueller. New head coach Brian Weinrich talked about the transition. " It's been pretty smooth. This is my 20th year at Highlands and I was with Dale for 19 of his 20 years. I've been here my whole life so this is nothing new to me. It's a really smooth... Read More →

Covington Catholic Colonels 2014 Football Preview

By Walter - For most programs, three consecutive trips to the third round of the playoffs would be considered a huge feat in the program history. For most programs, a 10-3 season with two of those losses coming to one of the most storied programs in Kentucky and the other coming to one of the top Division I programs in Ohio and a nationally recognized power would be considered a success. Covington Catholic football isn't like most programs, though. The Colonels have lost to rival Highlands' three straight years in the Region Championship of the playoffs, but after the injury plagued season that... Read More →

Dixie Heights Colonels 2014 Football Preview

By Walter - Two years ago when Dave Brossart took over the Dixie Heights football program, there were a lot of questions surrounding his team with the departure of long time head coach Tom Spritzky and a young group returning. While the first year was challenging, the Colonels finished 3-8, Brossart thinks that adversity helped mature his team and give them momentum after a heart breaking 57-50 loss in the first round of the playoffs to Henry Clay. "Two years ago I inherited a bunch of sophomores (when I took over for Coach Spritzky)" Said Coach Brossart. " Those kids have really developed over the... Read More →

After upsetting the Boyle County Rebels in the second round of the playoffs last season the Mercer County Titans lost to Lexington Catholic by the score of 49-14 to end their season. Coming into 2014 there are a lot of question marks surrounding the football team and whether or not they will be able to continue making strides in the right direction. There is a lot of optimism in Mercer County right now and with bragging rights over Boyle County... Read More →

Boyle County Rebels 2014 Football Preview

By PurplePride92 - The Boyle County Rebels 2013 season didn't go the way the Rebels would have liked it to have gone despite posting an 11-1 record. For the first time since 2007 the Rebels didn't advance past the second round of the playoffs after suffering a heartbreaking 31-30 loss from the hands of Mercer County. Ironically the coach of Mercer County, Chris Pardue, was the head coach at Boyle County the last time the Rebels didn't advance past the second round of the playoffs. This game proved to be the last game that Larry French was the head coach at Boyle County as Coach French took the vacant head... Read More →

Raceland Rams 2014 Football Preview

By Ram - Raceland 2014 “The greatest team in school history”. That is the phrase used to describe the Raceland team of 2013. After winning their 19th District Championship, the Eastern Kentucky Conference Championship, the first ever Regional Championship and making their first ever Semi-Final appearance the Raceland Rams of 2013 deserves, at least, consideration as the best team in school history. But, in 2014 a lot has changed for the Rams, but, yet again, a lot will be the same. Gone is the biggest and best offensive line and defensive line in school history. Gone are three year starters at... Read More →

St. Xavier Tigers 2014 Football Preview

By LongTimeReader - Review of 2013 The St. X Tigers head into their second year under Coach Will Wolford. The first under at the helm for Coach Wolford started with high expectations, but some inconsistent play throughout the season lead to unfulfilled expectations. The Tigers finished the year with a record of 7-5, finished third in the “Super District”, and was knocked out in the second round by the Male Bulldogs. The 2013 Tigers will be a team of inconsistency. While they had some great moments such as beating Manual in the final seconds and knocking off Cincinnati St. Xavier in the final regular...
