By Randy Parker - Camels, Royals, Panthers remain unbeaten Just a trio of 10th region teams remain unblemished after 2 weeks of action, and it surprises no one that top-ranked Campbell County is among the group. The Camels won 3 games last week, 2 of them against 9th Region foes. Wednesday night Campbell outscored visiting Holy Cross 24-7 in the 4th quarter to win 70-47. Dre Jackson's 21 points paced the Camels, while junior big man Matt Wilson contributed a double-double of 14 points and 16 rebounds. By Les - Another week down, and this is what we know – the Clay County Tigers remain the team to beat, but to be honest, I’m thinking this region is up for grabs. North Laurel was a missed wide-open lay-up away from defeating the two-time defending 13th Region champions on their home court.The Jaguars showed they have enough arsenal to win the region, and will be a team to reckon with throughout the season. By Region 1 Basketball - Rankings after Week 2: 1. Calloway County, 4-1, soundly beat McCracken County on Tuesday to show that there is some separation between them and the rest of the pack in the 1st region. Parker Adams led them in scoring with 26. Skylar Hunter had a strong game as well with 3 three pointers. They defeated Graves County 52-39 on Friday Night and then lost to Christian County on Saturday. Ryne Callahan turned in a MVP type performance in the tourney. The Vikings added a win over 115th region power Johnson Central on Saturday at the Boyd County Classic. The three headed perimeter monster of Callahan, Justin Graham, and Larry Whelan continue to be formidable. Justin Moore was a big key in the win Saturday. Some came down to the wire while others were lopsided, letís take a look back at Week 2 of the season. 1.Knott County Central: The Patriots and coach BB King continued to show why they are the top team in the mountains and region with two more impressive wins. By Region 1 Basketball - Rankings after Week 1: 1.Calloway County, 2-0, nothing has changed with them. Until they get beat they will be #1. Parker Adams and Skyler Hunter led them in both victories. 2.Paducah Tilghman, 2-0, impressive wins last week.
