Inside the 7th Region (1-19-17)

By PurplePride92 - News and Notes: Not much changed this week as Trinity remains #1 in the 7th Region despite losing two of their last three games. Trinity lost to Fern Creek in overtime in the finals of the Louisville Invitational Tournament (LIT) and then dropping a tight game to Oldham County. Trinity is still currently the class of the 7th Region and have likely moved on from these past two losses. Ballard made it to the semifinals of the LIT where they lost to eventual champion, Fern Creek. Despite that loss Ballard is till lurking in the shadows of Trinity. At this point of the season the only way... Read More →

Bardstown is still Bardstown and they are currently 7-0 against 5th Region teams and 5-0 in the 19th District. At 13-4 overall Bardstown is still a strong threat to win the 5th Region championship this season. John Hardin has won 6 games in a row and is looking to be one of the hottest teams in the 5th Region at the moment. Huge game against North Hardin looms on the horizon for John Hardin to make a statement... Read More →

The value of the past and moving toward the future

By ChiefSmoke - I am writing this blog before our Perfection Workout this afternoon. What a blessing to be back in my hometown and getting ready for another season of football in central Kentucky. I am especially excited because we are renewing some old local rivalries, like getting to go to another Boyle-Mercer football game. I have been to several of those, especially in the 70s and 80s. And, we are playing at old Harrodsburg HS(Alvis Johnson Stadium). With the improvements made in the bleachers, lighting and playing surface, there is no better place for a HS football game. As I sit here with my... Read More →

By All State Baseball - 1.Elliott County (12-1): The Lions picked up a big region win last Thursday night when they defeated Rowan County 61-53. BluegrassPreps.com Girls' Basketball Jan 17 Wrap Up

By Jesse James - The past week came and was gone with not a lot of surprises on the front of Kentucky High School girls basketball. Butler continued their quest for a second straight Sweet 16 title this week by beating both Ballard and Mercy. Male traveled to Nashville to compete in the Music City Classic that had some of the best teams in the Eastern USA. As usual Male was very impressive with wins over Providence Day, NC and Memphis Central, TN in convincing fashion. Mercer County bounced back with a good win over Top 10 Franklin County and West Jessamine. Mercer has probably the hardest schedule... Read More →

8th region re-cap and rankings 1/16/17

By 8th Region Warrior - Lots of games being played in the 8th region this past week with district rivalry's and the ALL A taking place. Congrats to the Walton Verona Bearcat's on winning an exciting tournament this week and good luck representing the 8th region this week. This region is definitely top heavy with 4-5 teams, but the middle of the region I think will play a big role in this year's regional tourney. Hard to believe but we are only 6 weeks out of district tournament play. Whoever is able to get hot like Aaron Rogers has will punch their ticket to Rupp Arena. 1. Oldham County Colonels - They have... Read More →

Inside the 9th Region (1/17)

By Walter - Another week, another shake up in the 9th region rankings. A quick look at each team's record after the top 3 shows you just how close the rest of the top 10 are. With a little over a month left in regular season play, here is where each team stands. 1. Covington Catholic (15-4) After losing to South Laurel last week, the Colonels responded with blow out wins over Winton Woods, OH (74-36) and Newcath (69-41) and followed that up with a win over one of the better teams in Ohio, Dayton Dunbar (70-68). While Cole Vonhandorf is usually the one leading the Colonels, it was the junior duo of... Read More →

Inside the 1st Region - Week 6

By silo11 - Not a whole lot changed this week in the region. There was some movement at the bottom of the rankings as Carlisle County is starting to play a whole lot better. Shout out to Christian Fellowship with a 4 game winning streak and a chance to continue that into February. Other than that, the Region 1 All “A” Classic has started and will continue over the next few days. Mayfield is the strong favorite to win and advance to the state tournament this year, but don’t count out Murray completely. Huge game this Friday when McCracken County visits Marshall County. Both teams are contenders... Read More →

10th Region Recap and Rankings - 1/16/17

By mcpapa - A little bit of movement in this week's rankings as a result of last week's action, but nothing earth-shattering. Campbell County remains solidly ensconced in the top spot even after a close call, and the regional All-A tournament told us quite a bit about some of the smaller schools. 1. Campbell County (16-1, 5-1 region). The Camels ran their winning streak to 14 with a convincing district win over Brossart, a big win across the river and a close call against Conner. Bertsch and Hegyi led te Camels with 25 and 16 in the 74-45 decision over Brossart, Hegyi had a big 35 point-effort... Read More →
