For the record, I can't even find Martinique in the FIFA World Rankings.

His first half was a big part of it. I'm typically a huge fan of his, but good lord he couldn't hold onto anything in that first half.

Also, if I have to watch Graham Zusi play right back for the rest of this tournament, I'm going to gouge my eyes out.

Lots of work left to do. Still in position to win the group. Look for them to try and hang all sorts of goals on Martinique and Nicaragua.

Seriously though, how is it always Ghana?
Good news, my favorite Ghana player EVER, Michael Essien, is well over 17.

Well...that was pretty ugly. But, at the end of the day, USA is No. 1 in the group and playing the worst team next.

Yep. And with all second team players. We won. I've forgotten what happened already.

I feel like 2nd team players should be able to handle Martinique pretty easily.

I can't argue with that, but these guys looked insanely disjointed.

What on earth is Omar Gonzalez doing back along that line? He is constantly too far back to make the offside trap work. He's a starter for the team that won the Liga MX title last year. I know he knows how to do this stuff.

Just one of a number of guys who didn't appear to have any clue what to do last night.

    My take:

Martinique - basically amateurs who understand their talents and limitations, but play well enough together to put a scare into a favored opponent.

U.S. - very talented individuals from many different club and professional teams who were stars at those levels, but have no idea how to play together. Their form and timing was horrible for most of the match.

USA should be able to take care of Nicaragua fairly easily to win the group.

Martinique isn't necessarily slouch. That forward that caused problems all night, Langil, plays in the Belgian league and might be the fastest dude in this whole tournament.

According to Ives Galarcep, Altidore, Dempsey, Nagbe, Bradley, and Tim Howard have all joined the team and will be formally added to the roster for the Gold Cup knockout stage that starts next week.

While I appreciate what Altidore and Dempsey can do, forward hasn't been a huge problem for me so far, with Dwyer and Morris both having capable games.

Bradley and Nagbe, however, are sorely needed as the US midfield is a complete mess.

If they don't play Dom Dwyer, they are stupid.
