Tampa Bay became the second team in NHL history to win 61 games in a season, last night in Toronto.
The Leafs led 1-0 after one period, but Steven Stamkos scored a short handed goal a little under 6 minutes into the 2nd period to leave it tied 1-1 after 2.
With 5:42 left in the game, Alex Killorn passed the puck to a flying Steven Stamkos for a fast shot on goal, but Stamkos didn't shoot it. Seeing Fredrick Andersen dive to the left side of the goal and the Leafs collect to that side to stop Stamkos, Steven backhanded a pass back to Killorn who slapped it by Andersen, before he could or the defense could react. That was pretty.
Nikita Kucherov got his lead leading 126th point and 40th goal of the season on an empty netter with 55 seconds to go to seal the deal. Kuch becomes the 3rd Bolt with 40 or more goals this season.
The Lightning will attempt to tie the NHL record tomorrow night in Boston.
