    Game 70
    Somerset Patriots(27-19)Independent @ Lancaster Barnstormers(30-15)Independent

My first Atlantic League game and I watched it off of the Barnstormers youtube feed.
The battle between the leaders of each division was not much of a contest, when all was said and done, with Lancaster posting a 13-6 win.

Somerset used a four run fifth to take a 5-3 lead after five. From the Lancaster outscored the road team 10-1 to post the rout.

For Lancaster,Trayvon Robinson(A former Seattle Mariners players) went 4-4, with 4 runs scored and 1 RBI on his 2nd bomb of the season.
Blake Gailen(UNLV)went 4-5, including his 10th homer run of the season and he drove in r runs.

For Somerset,Endy Chavez (13 MLB Season) hit his 2nd bomb of the season and he drove in four.
Aaron Dudley(Toledo, Ohio) hit his 2nd bomb of the season and totaled one RBI.

    Game 71
    Evansville Otters (Independent)17-15 @ Florence Freedom(Independent) 16-17

This is a big series for Florence because they trail the Otters by a game in the Western Division.

In the 2nd inning Xavier Turner doubled and then came around to score, on a two run bomb by Jordan Brower(4)

In the bottom of the fourth the Freedom was able to plate a single run, to take a 3-0 lead. Brower would single and then come around to score later in the inning on a single by Jacob Wark. Wark now has 20 RBI while playing in just 16 games for the Freedom.

Mike Rizzitello, hitting just .156 entering the game blasted his first homer of the season in the top of the fifth, to make this a 3-1 game.
Logan Taylor doubled then he scored on a double by David Cronin and this was a 3-2 game.Ryan Long doubled in Croin to tie this one at three.Travis Harrison hit a grounder to Avery, at third the ball took a funny bounce and this was a 4-3 Otters lead.

Brower, since coming off of the DL has been red hot and this has continued in this game. He just blasted his 2nd homer of the night(5) to lock this one up at four apiece.

Skylar Ewing, playing his first game of the season for the Freedom goes yard(1) to make this a 5-4 Freedom lead.Ewing(Rice) can play,First Baseman, Catcher and Relief Pitcher. He was drafted by the Giants back in 2014.

Ricky Ramirez Jr makes a diving catch to end this one as he preserves the Freedom 5-4 win.

    Game 72
Hudson Valley Renegades (Tampa Bay)2-3 At Brooklyn Cyclones(Mets) 4-1

I listened to this one just to see how former Florence Freedom player,Jose Brizuela did. He went 1-5 with his 2nb bomb in two nights. He was robbed of a double by a great catch by Bryce Brown.

The games itself was a offensive slugfest, with Hudson Valley winning 8-7 in ten innings. Valley had 14 hits, while Brooklyn had 13.

Leading the way for H-Valley was,Chris Betts 3-5(HR1) with 3RBI.
Michael Smith 4-5,Jake Stone(0.77) had a hit and 2RBI.Justin Bridgman had 3 hits and scored a run.

    Game 74.

I have made more of a attempt to listen to at least a few games from more leagues this season. With that in mind, I listened to another game from the Florida State League yesterday, before driving to Akron to watch the Rubber Ducks game.

Daytona Tortugas(38-30) Reds @ Florida Fire Frogs(30-38) Braves

Dayton was able to use 10 hits, with 4 of them being for extra bases to score 5 runs and post a win over the Fire Frogs, by the score of 5-4.

Randy Ventura led the winners with 3 hits and 1 RBI.
    Bruce Yari had 2 hits.
Morgan Lofstrom only had 1 hit, but totaled 2 RBI to aid in the win.
Lead off hitter,Taylor Trammell had 1 hit and 1 RBI.
Daniel Sweet drove in 1 run and added a hit on the day.

For the Fire Frogs, they too totaled ten hits on the day.
Brett Cumberland blasted a solo home run(8)
Light hitting Ray-Patrick Didder, had 3 hits to raise his average up to(.204). He also drove in a run.
Jordan Rodgers a lighter hitter than Didder, had 2 hits(.199) and he too drove in a run.

    WP-Scott Moss (W, 7-2) 4.20

    Game 75

Took this one in, in person.

    Harrisburg Senators(Washington)38-34 @ Akron Rubber Ducks (Cleveland)42-31

This was a good game for all of two innings. Then the Senators plated four runs in the third and this one was all but over. Harrisburg added four more in the seventh and to add insult to injury, they plated two in the eighth and ninth,to make the final score 12-2.

For Harrisburg,Dan Gamache had 3 hits and 3 RBI to lead the way.
Taylor Gushue had a hit and 4 RBI.
Drew Ward had 2 hits and 2 RBI.
    Carter Kieboom totaled 3 hits.
Austin Davidson had 2 hits and 1 RBI.
Jake Noll had 2 hits and a RBI.
Adam Brett Walker had 1 RBI.
In all Harrisburg had 16 hits and add 7 more base runners by Akron pitchers walking them.

For Akron there was not much to write home about. In all the Rubber Ducks did have 7 hits, with 3 of them being for extra bases. When the pitching staff walks seven, a team really has little chance to post a win.
Connor Marabell had 2 hits a drove in a run.
Mark Mathias had 2 hits and drove in a run.

    WP-Tyler Mapes (W, 1-0) 1.50
    LP-Triston McKenzie (L, 1-2) 4.26 ERA

    Game 76
I watched this one online, from the Barnstormers youtube feed

Long Island Ducks 27-25(Independent) @ Lancaster Barnstormers 33-18(Independent)

This game belong to the pitchers as the 1-0 final would tell.
Lancaster used five pitchers to post the shutout, with Kevin Munson (3-1, 1.62 ERA) getting the win in relief. He threw one inning of hitless ball. Overall the Barnstormers
pitchers gave up three hits. Starter Nate Reed gave up all three in his five innings of work. His big problem was five base on balls.

The Ducks staff gave up just three hits too.Former major league player,Jair Jurrjens left the game because of as now a unknown injury. He threw 1 2/3 of an inning, giving up zero hits.

Lancaster got their only RBI from Tyler Bortnick(Mentor,Ohio), who had one of the three hits for his team.

    WP-Kevin Munson (3-1, 1.62 ERA)

    Game 77
    Williamsport Crosscutters (Phillies)6-3 @ Mahoning Valley Scrappers(Indians) 7-2

Its very cool for me as a Indians fan to see the young guys doing so well, even if it is early in the short season.
The Scrappers had ten hits, with just two being for extra bases.
Leading the offense in this one was,Jason Rodriguez(.214) with two hits, including his first bomb of the season. His bomb was a solo shot and it also brought in his only RBI of the game.Jose Fermin also had two hits and he drove in two. Former Ohio State Buckeye,Tre Gantt had a hit, a RBI and scored two runs.

The Crosscutters had nine hits in this one.
Jonathan Guzman had three hits, including his first dinger of the season and he drove in a run.Lenin Rodriguez had two hits and a RBI.

    Louisville Bats(Reds) 29-43 @ Columbus Clippers(Indians) 37-38

Te Bats won the first game of the series by the count of 11-2. Columbus was seeking revenge in this one and after another horrible start, they were able to overcome a 3-0 lead and post a 5-3 win.

Brandon Barnes and Francisco Mejia each had two hits, with Barnes driving in a pair.

    Game 79 Louisville Bats(Reds)29-44 @ Columbus Clippers(Indians)38-38

What a offensive power show these two put on tonight.
I caught this on Spectrum Sports Channel and as usual, when playing on TV, the Clippers go down in flames.

The Bats jumped out 5-0 after 1/2 inning of play, and then came from behind late to post the 11-10 win.

    Game 81
    Mahoning Valley(Indians) @ West Virginia Black Bears(Pittsburgh)

I made the drive to Granville, West Virginia to watch this one.
I know this is the same ball park that the University of West Virginia plays in, but it is know better than the ball park in Florence or in Washington Pa.

As for the game it was really over early, as the Black Bears jumped out yo a 6-0 lead. after five innings. The Scrappers did scored two late runs in the 8th inning to make the final 6-2.

    For the winners,
Melvin Jimenez led the way with 3 hits and 2 RBI.
Jhoan Herrera had 2 hits and 2 RBI.
Zach Susi had the other RBI.

For MV, the lone bright spot was Richard Palacios. 3-4 2BI.

6,304 views as I post this game result.

    Game 82
    Mahoning Valley(Indians)10-3 @ West Virginia Black Bears(Pittsburgh) 6-8

Of course MV wins tonight, a night after I drove to WV to take their game in.
This was a weird one, with three of the Black Bears runs scoring on wild pitches and MV pitchers walked eight batters. Lucky for the pitching staff the offense woke up,with fourteen hits, including four extra base hits. They did have ten strikeouts, so all was not all sunshine and roses.

For the winners Tre Gantt (Ohio State) had two hits ans scored two runs. He was off last night, which was not good for me because I wanted to see him play in person.Tyler Freeman(.455) continues to play out of his mind, as he had three more hits and drove in a run. He has a cannon for an arm and plays a mean defense, at this level.Richard Palacios(.400) drove in two runs and totaled two hits. Also with two RBI was Clark Scolamiero.

For the home team,Robbie Glendinning had a hit and the teams only RBI.

The Grizzlies jumped out to a 5-0 lead after three innings and then scored what turned out to be the winning run in the fifth. The River Cats scored all of their runs in the sixth inning.

The River Cats hitters stuck out thirteen times in this one, while the Grizzlies did so nine times. The pitchers for both teams combined to walk just six hitters all night long.

J.D. Davis(7) blasted two long bombs, while totaling three hits. He had three RBI on the night.Myles Straw(.350) had two hits and scored a run. Also for the winners,Jon Kemmer had a hit and drove in one run.

For the River Cats, Chris Shaw(15) had another homer run, a solo shot that accounted for his only RBI.Eury Perez had two hits and drove in a run.Myles Schroder had a hit and drove in a run.

    Indianapolis Indians (Pittsburgh)43-36 @ Columbus Clippers(Cleveland)41-39

This was my seventh minor league/independent game this season and it was the first time, the team I was rooting for won.

Columbus jumped out with two in the first, when Yu Chang and Yandy Diaz plated runs, with RBI doubles.

Clippers starter Mitch Talbot would give up only only one run, in six innings and he left with the 2-1 lead. His only run was a solo home run to Eric Wood(70 As usual the Clippers bullpen let the lead slip away. Cole Sulser, walked the first batter he faced and then the 2nd batter,Ryan Lavarnway(5) hit a two run bomb, to make it a 3-2 game after 6 1/2 innings.

Columbus tied it in the seventh on a bases loaded walk to Brandon Barnes. The Clippers had bases juiced and got only one run. 3-3 after seven.

Columbus scored five times in the eighth to make it a 8-3 game and that is how the game ended. Adam Rosales homers (11), a two run shot, to make it 5-3.Eric Haase had a two run single to make it a 7-3 game. The final run came on a Drew Maggi single.
