Xavier 2 Northern Kentucky 1 (WSOC)

CINCINNATI, Ohio The Northern Kentucky women's soccer team fell to the Xavier Musketeers on Sunday evening by a score of 2-1. The Musketeers improve to 4-3-1 on the year, while NKU moves to 3-4-0.

"Although we showed some bright spots, we are disappointed in a lot of areas regarding tonight's match," said NKU head coach Bob Sheehan. "We look to have a strong week of training and hopefully be prepared for our first Horizon League contest on Friday."

Macy Hamblin pulled a goal back for the Norse in the 53rd minute. Hamblin got behind the Xavier defense, and fired her shot from a tough angle on the left side. The ball went just over the Xavier goalkeeper, and into the back of the net.

At the end of the half, each team had six shots. The Norse had four on frame, while Xavier had three.

The first good scoring chance of the second half came in the 51st minute. Xavier's Maddie Tierney had an open look just outside of the box, but her attempt sailed high of the net.

Hamblin pulled one back in the 53rd minute to make the score 2-1.

In the 57th minute, Schembri found space in the box for Xavier and fired a shot, but Lohmann made another fine save.
