At best he'll be back up QB, let him take a few snaps now and then, just to see if he has what it takes to throw some passes, if he doesn't Bon Voyage.

Guys I don't think it could hurt. I think if he feels he has what it takes to make another come back, then I say let him try. Case in point. Look at the career of Tommy Maddux. He was former first round draft pick gone bust, out of the league for 6 seasons and then he makes a big splash in 2002. Granted he was out of the league the first time around due to a lack of quality play, but like Tim Couch he never lost hope of trying to make it again in the league.
Another example, Tony Mandarich. Big bust, sure. Out of the league for four years, due to lack of quality play and illness. Gives it one more try and plays for the Colts for three more years.
Last example, this year Andre Wadsworth is making another come back at 32 years old. He played a grand total of 3 season before he had horrible knee injury. I don't know if will make it, but he is giving it another try and is currently on the New York Jets roster.
All I'm saying who are we to judge whether or not he should try out again or whether or not he can make it. Lets cheer him on whether he makes it or not. I'm proud of the fact he is from Kentucky, played at Kentucky and had the success he had. Good luck to Tim Couch.
- Jul 20, 07, 08:46 PM #64Oops. Sorry about that, I fell off the couch and hit my head, I think I blacked out for a few minutes. I had a vision of RockPride saying a Ky QB was better then Brohm.

I'm not sure if he still has it or not (none of us do) but I would love to see him come back & be successful. He is from the same VERY VERY SMALL city that I am from (Hyden, Ky) & I have watched him play ball since he was a Junior in High School. If he can't come in and contribute to a team then just stay out & enjoy life with the millions of $, his playboy wife & his new little boy.

One of the biggest NFL flops of all time needs to just get a job in Lexington and try to live off his fame.

Kelly Holcomb...I think that kind of shows that Tim Couch really just didn't have it when it came to atleast being a NFL Starting QB...If healthy though he could one day may a good backup for a team...

While I don't think he would have ever been as good as Peyton he didn't exactly get benched for Holcomb. Couch started 14 games that year and had thrown 18 touchdowns. He was injured and Holcomb took over for the last 2 games and the playoffs. As has been shown since then his shoulder was really messed up and he was never the same.

Yep, saw that story today. If Jacksonville is going to sign another quarterback, I would rather them sign Culpepper. But I would love to see Couch sign on somewhere.

I'm from the very small town Tim is from (Hyden, Ky) & a reliable source (somebody related to Tim) has told me that he did sign with the Jags. He does have a condo in Florida.

Which tells you that Culpepper may not be as healthy as he stated he is. Maybe Jacksonville didn't Dante that strong of a look. I guess we will see how it plays out.

- Jul 30, 07, 03:33 PM #78Holcomb played the 2nd half of the final regular season win over ATL (due to Tim's broken leg) and then started the playoff loss to Pittsburgh where he threw over 400 yards and 4 TDs. There was then a QB controversy and Holcomb got the nod to start the season opener. So, yes, he did get benched for a career backup.
