That defense is average at best.

The defense could easily have four new starters.

Jackson and Billings for starters. Then either FA or the Draft for a couple of more.

Which means we don't know how the Bengals D will be in 2017 so thanks for defeating your own point.

They have no experience so we will see them make a lot of rookie mistakes.

Getting multiple picks for just absorbing cap is a fantastic move. Cleveland playing smart.

If Cleveland is smart, which is a big if, they can do some good things with what they have coming up with the draft.

Good to know! So I assume you don't think any draft pick this year will help the Steelers anytime because they are unproven. So at least we won't have to hear how good a pick a Steelers pick is, because they can't be good since they are unproven.

Steelers draft better. Burns and Hargrave are better than Jackson and Billings.

Since neither Jackson or Billings have played in a real NFL game, you're making an ASSumption.

This is all and only about the draft picks. Osweiller is entirely incidental to this deal. It is illegal to buy draft packs in the NFL, unlike in the NBA. The Browns just figured out how to do it. This is the first trade of this sort ever done in the NFL, though it has been talked about before. Cleveland had the perfect opportunity because of their league leading cap space to absorb the contract and the Texans were trying to clear some cap space. Sports writers in Cleveland are saying that Osweiller probably won't even be on the team by the first game of the season.

The Browns traded a 2017 4th round pick and got a 2018 2nd round pick, a 2017 6th round pick, and a QB whose salary won't hurt the Browns cap space in future years. As I mentioned, they can easily absorb the hit to their cap space this year.

This is an extremely smart move by Cleveland. They need draft picks to build a team from scratch. They are piling them up. Surely they will hit on some these and be an improved team because of it. This is "money ball."

Latest headline at cleveland.com is that the Browns are shopping Osweiler and a 5th round pick for a 3rd round pick. If they don't get it, they will just cut Osweiler.

The Browns have 22 draft picks eleven this year and eleven next year.
