Miles Garrett Suspension

My best guess? The remaining six games of the regular season and any playoff games that the Browns might luck into.

Garrett is one of the dirtiest players in the league. He should be suspended the rest of the season and have to apply for reinstatement.

No doubt it was a stupid and dangerous act. If he had dropped the helmet and just swung with his fist, he probably wouldn't have more than a one game suspension. But he did swing the helmet. If he is done for the year, it is more about making an example of him for the future and trying to prevent it from ever happening again than punishing a problem player.
I know he has been fined at least twice this season but not ever suspended to my knowledge.

This is where I stand. I think Garrett will get the rest of the season off, including (if they make it) any playoff games. And they may go ahead and take 2 or 3 games next season just to make sure he gets the point.

But, Pouncey became a third player in this "fight". He has to be punished, as well. My guess, 2-3 games this year, but eligible for postseason.

So does the Pittsburgh QB get nothing? Are we saying he was this innocent bystander? I believe that after his helmet was taken off (that is after he himself tried to rip off Garrett's helmet) he still was trying to fight Garrett.

I think the QB should get something as well. Yes, he definitely tried to rip the helmet off. Also, yes, he was trying to fight him, but you can't clock a dude with a helmet.

It's all about appropriate force there. You can carry a weapon to protect yourself when you go out to dinner, but you can't use said weapon on a guy wanting to fight you in the parking lot if it hasn't escalated past that.

Hehe, and if you have a weapon at dinner and the guy takes it from you, you should not continue to try to fight him.

Garret suspended indefinitely, solidly for the rest of this season and possibly some games next season.

    Pouncey suspended three games.

    Both teams fined $250k.

A bit excessive to shut down Pouncey for half the remaining games seeing as how he was standing up for his QB that was just assaulted, but oh well.

Thanks NFL, it wasn’t rocket science.

I did not stay up to see the end of the game. Interesting that news sources and sports websites (ESPN and even FOX and NFL) showed only pictures of the incident. I had to find a Twitter source to see a rough video of how it played out.

I've never heard anything like that about Garrett before.

The NFL just did what needed to be done. Garrett out indefinitely and cannot return this season or post-season and with an undisclosed fine. Pouncey out for three games and fines, Ogunjobi out one game and fined. Both teams fined $250K.

This is huge and appropriate. NFL is making a statement.

Someone asked in Rudolph should get anything (besides a concussion). I think he should have been flagged on the play for a personal foul but nothing further. Yes, he started the fray, but his actions weren't much different than you see any Sunday when tempers flare and there are personal fouls.

Go look for more Garrett clips, he’s had issues and finally boiled over.

He'll probably appeal and get it knocked down to two.

If he has previous issues as you say here, that is going to make it harder for him to get anything reduced on appeal. Garrett seems to be saying the right things. If he had a clean background with the league, I think he would have a chance of getting it reduced to regular season only perhaps.

The other big obstacle for him at this point is the media hype machine is all over him. That puts a lot of pressure on the league.
