    Lamar or Patrick?

You own an NFL team and have no issue paying whatever is needed, Jackson and Mahomes are both free agents...who do you go after first?

They are both amazing and can win tough games. But I'll take Lamar because he's a dazzling, fun player to watch; and he's a CARD!

I'm just here for the reasons people wouldn't take Lamar.

Listen, I know you show up to any conversation about Lamar itching to throw shade, but certainly you can't find fault with people that would rather have Mahomes? It isn't like people are taking Goff, Darnold, or some other young QB over him -- Mahomes has proven himself to be ELITE.

Someone taking Mahomes over Lamar isn't a mouth-breathing Lamar-hater, please, realize that.

Mahomes. But the fact that I did, in fact, have to think about this answer for a second shocked me. I just love watching that dude throw the football. Mahomes is a more athletic Brett Favre whereas Lamar is a better Michael Vick. I’ll take the gunslinger.

My comment really had nothing to do with Mahomes at all, which seemed pretty obvious to me. He's a great QB. I'm interested to see if peoples opinions of Lamar have changed.

Mine has changed (I'm the only I can speak for), and I would take him over a LOT of quarterbacks in the NFL, to be sure. Am I 100% convinced this offense / style can succeed over the long-haul, no, I'm not, but he is amazing, fun to watch, and it is working like crazy right now.

I would take Mahomes, right now, over every QB in the league to lead my team moving forward. With no exceptions.

I'd gladly take Lamar, I've really enjoyed watching him this year. I like his attitude/charisma. But I'm not taking him if I can have Mahomes.

This discussion, I think, will be even tougher after another season or two.

QB's I would take over Lamar today:

    Tom Brady
    Aaron Rodgers
    Drew Brees
    Russell Wilson

Ironically, I wouldn't take any of those over Lamar. 3 of them are too old (versus Lamar who has his best years in front of him), and I prefer Lamar to Russ (in spite of the fact he is playing very well -- HOWEVER, that under-thrown pick last night costs them that game if SF's kicker was healthy and available).

However, to me, Mahomes is an easy choice over Lamar has he has proven more with his arm at this point, and he also has his whole career in front of him.

I'm taking those guys based purely on experience. He's obviously a far superior athlete to all of them.

This post is not going to make a lot of sense, but here is what is going through my mind:

If I were picking between the two, I would pick Jackson; however, if I were betting long term I would pick Mahomes.

I know games are not played like this, but the QB position has shown to be a position, 100% of the time, that tilts towards players that can push the ball down the field with their arm. If you take away Jackson's ability to run - as in, not a threat at all - would he be able to beat you? Jackson's greatest strength is his ability and threat of running the ball. We have seen blips in NFL history from Newtown, Kaepernick, Vick, Cunningham, Steve Young, et al. whose best skill was running the ball. Until the threat is reversed, I am reluctant to go all in for 10+ years.

Now Mahomes irritates me with his showboating, feeling himself type attitude at times, and ticky-tack injuries, but that is a whole other subject.
