He had a nice, long career. Was the first really big leg kicker who could bomb consistently from over 50 yards. But I don’t think he was ever considered the best kicker at any point in time during his career. Some of that is due to the Raiders being bad most of his career. But kickers really don’t get much love in Canton, and I think Vinitieri is closer to a sure thing.

I think he should be a HOFer... not sure of his numbers but he had kicked alot of fgs for alot of years ... he always swung a heavy leg ... pretty sure he spent his whole career as a Raider ... I thought the guy who was kicking for them at the end of this season was pretty good ... another lefty ...

Vieniteri is definitely in whenever he decides to hang it up but he has been on another planet for years as far as percentage and game winners go for a kicker ...

He and Brady were the remaining players of their draft class.

Shane Lechler is still active and also a member of the 2000 draft class.

Ironically started with Janikowski at the Raiders.

Could Lechler get in the HOF as a punter??? He has been the best or close to it forever. I think Ray Guy is the only punter in the HOF.

I stand corrected. That is what they were saying on Golic and Wingo last Thursday morning.
