Page 6 of Final. What a game. Congrats to the Eagles. The Patriots seem to struggle in the Super Bowl against teams from the NFC East. Advertisement 0 0 0  ... 84 comments | 2456 Views | Go to page 1 →

Ertz, I felt caught the ball, ran (established himself as a runner), then dove.

    Now the Clement catch....
Agreed. James' and Ertz's plays were not the same at all. I was surprised it took so long to confirm the Ertz play. Well, maybe not actually surprised, but you get what I'm saying.

I personally thought they got both of the catches correct. Ertz was easy.

Clement in my opinion had both feet down with the ball. That made the pass complete. He then switched the ball to the other hand, so the ball did move, but in my opinion he had already established possession, and he did not lose possession through out the catch. But it was really close.

This is where am at as well and posted it in the update thread. To me Clement caught the ball and the ball moved because like you said he was just trying to get the ball in the other hand so it was secure when he hit the ground. He never lost possession.

And I was fine with the Clement catch being ruled a TD because nothing was conclusive. To me that was much more of a question mark than the Ertz catch.

I actually thought the Clement catch had plenty of evidence to make a call one. To me it came down to the fact of how you want to interpret possession. There was no doubt the ball moved as his left foot stepped out but the question to me is if you want to say that movement equaled lack of possession.

On the ertz play, if it had been ruled in complete it should have been overturned to "complete". On the Clemente play, whatever was called on the field should have stood.

There was no debate on the ertz catch. None. On the Clemente play there was some debate but not enough to overturn whatever the call on the field was. It was "that" close.

Foles had one heck of a year then got sent off to St Louis. Jeff Fischer has been a QB killer recently. I think there were 3 different QBs in the playoffs that played for Fischer but had horrible careers under him. Foles can play. Maybe not top tier but the guy can play.
