I don't understand the last kick. I know there's not a great chance of recovering an onside kick with your place kicker doing it...but don't you still have to attempt something other than what they did? Heck, tell the guy to try to kick it hard straight at somebody...maybe it will knuckle and bounce off of them. It doesn't have to be perfect, but it does have to be tried, right?

He has done an onside dropped kick once before in his career. If I had to guess he most likely miskicked it. Which is pretty understandable. Trying to drop kick a ball is very hard. So I doubt he kicked it like he wanted.

D.P. Just did enough to lead his squad to the win.
    Loved seeing the outcome.

I believe last week or so he dropped kick one or two kickoffs. It’s not an easy thing to do. Overall the odds on recovering an onside kick now in the NFL is around 2-3% I believe.

Expected onside kicks were successful about 15% of the time before the rule change. Now they are around 4%...might need to back the receiving team back 5 yards to give kicking team a fighting chance.

That wont happen. That just gives better chance at big collisions again, which they want to avoid.

I agree it won't, but I hate the current onside rules.

Good luck to the 'Boys next week in LA--They'll need it. Feel for those who gave the points.

I sort of like that an onside kick is almost impossible to recover. I like that a losing team isn't reward because they got a lucky bounce at the end of a game. Be Better the first 56-59 mins of the game.
