Boomer Esiason: Jets should cut Tim Tebow
“I’m just telling you right now, I would [cut Tebow], and I’ll tell you why I would,” said Esiason, who deemed the Jets’ acquisition of Tebow a “major” mistake. “It’s not in any way, shape, or form — I think — benefiting this team.”
“All you have to do is watch him throw the ball,” said Esiason. “Just watch him. . . . You can say whatever you want about Tim Tebow. He played some of the worst football that any quarterback has ever played in the history of the game last year, at times.”

He puts butts in the seats. And keeps the Jets on the front page.

Boomer has never been afraid to speak his mind and often times I disagree with him but this is one time I think he may be right.

I think Tebow is a terrible QB. I think he's on par with Vince Young, whom I would also despise if he were my team's QB. I have no idea if the Jets sold out last year or not. I would have to assume they did. However, I can't believe it's anything more than a headline grab to have him on the roster. Like I have said from the beginning, I think he'd make a terrific TE.
And considering the G-men are reigning champs, why not invite the media to have to pick between the Giants or the trainwreck?

I agree, Tebow has looked horrendous at times. Less than a 50% completion percentage and long stretches on ineptitude. On the flip side the guy has played in 16 games, the equivalent of 1 season. 9-7 overall, 8-5 last year (I am guessing Boomer was well under .500 for his career as QB, but that is for another thread
), has been dissected more than any young QB in NFL history, but you cannot knock the end results. If I told you a QB goes 9-7 through their first 16 games, most people would take that and believe a foundation is in place. With Tebow it is cut bait.

And no, I would not want him or the distraction on my team. But I would not want to have to play against him either. He does possess a winner's intangible most do not have.

From Twitter Universe:
"It should be noted that Boomer Esiason, who wants Tim Tebow cut, was a cut-worthy 16-27 as a starting Jets QB."

Tebow's reply: “I've heard nothing but great things about Mr. Esiason,” Tebow said in remarks distributed by the Jets (via PFT). “I know he was a great player here, and I just wish him nothing but the best in his announcing and God bless him."
I'll say it. I want Tebow to be successful. It just feels right.

Is there a youtube compilation of the left handed mallards that Boomer tossed up throughout his career? Or is there a time limit for youtube videos?

People get tired of it, but it is all centered around his faith. Football isn't his life and it doesn't define him. That's a frequent refrain, but more often than not it is untrue. With Tebow it is true. He really is content with giving his very best, leaving the results to God.
And, to date, just as there's no disputing the fact that he's a sub-par QB by NFL standards, there's no disputing that if its a close game at the end, he finds a way to make plays.
From what we've seen thus far, he wouldn't be my preference to have as my starting QB, but he's intriguing enough that I wouldn't care to have him on my roster to see if he could develop his passing skills.
The problem here is that the Jets situation isn't ideal. Sanchez is hot-and-cold and Tebow's presence just adds another clown to the circus in New York. But, if Tebow ends up playing for the Jets, I wouldn't be surprised if the end result turns out similar to last year. Their defense should keep them in games, so it will likely come down to making plays at the end.Last edited by 5wide; Aug 8, 12 at 07:55 AM.
