Bengals Release Burfict (Signed by the Raiders)

A great start to a career that flamed out for a lot of reasons.

Ian Rappaport said the Bengals looked for a trade but could not make it happen.

Releasing Burfict saves the Bengals $5 million on the cap.

I think this had to happen. New coach trying to pave his own way, and he was going to be paid way too much money for the production he had recently.

I agree, overdue for the Bengals. When the Bengals blew that playoff game against Pittsburgh, I was all for getting rid of both Burfict and Adam Jones. The drop off in production this past season was startling.

I hate to be that guy, but if Burfict doesn't play again and falls into a group with the likes of Adam Jones he may not be around much longer.

People can say what they want about Burficts on field antics, but we have never heard a negative word about him off the field.

Had to happen based on the play last year.

From what I saw, he looked heavier and slower.

I am crossing my fingers here and going with with Grant is saying, I have heard nothing but good things about Tez off the field and I hope that continues.

I was one who was for keeping him most of the years because when he played he was one of the best linebackers in the game. However his game slipped drastically last year, so really no positives at all to keeping him. Time to get a fresh start.

With that said it may be good for him, if a team gives him a shot. He was motivated out of college because of not getting drafted. Being released now may motivate him again, but that would mean a team would have to try to sign him which may not happen. If someone picks him up I would think it would be one of the Bengals old coaches in Mike Zimmer, Jay Gruden, or out in Oakland with Pauly G as the DC. Which would be interesting eith Antonio Brown playing for them lol.

Burfict off the field has always been great even in college. He may not go out and seek the publicity but i know first hand what he has done with helping different high school programs, and honestly just being a good guy to be around off the field. On the field he literally has that old school mentality that 20 years ago would have been looked at as this hard nose tough enforcer that teams wanted. In today's football though it just doesnt work. However off the field he is a good guy and dont expect him to get in trouble like Adam Jones has.

Just flat-dab wore out his welcome here. When he finally was on the field all I could think of was what stupid thing he was about to do. Not what great play, but what momentum killer for the D was he about explode with a personal foul. Refs watched him on every play.
