Are Thanksgiving Game Hurting for Ratings?

First thing I thought when I heard that San Fran and Seattle were playing the night game of Thanksgiving.

That would be a definite no. TV Ratings Broadcast Top 25: Thanksgiving Football Tops Week 10 With Adults 18-49 & With Total Viewers - Ratings | TVbytheNumbers

The NFL isn't hurting for ratings any day or night of the week. Now, I'm sure they try to place as good a game as possible for that day, but I think you're trying to do too much reading between the lines.

Maybe. It just didn't make sense to me that they'd have that game on Thanksgiving day. But I guess it doesn't matter when they'd have it because they'll always have good ratings on a Sunday or Monday night anyway.

I haven't watched the early game in years and usually only catch the end of the late game most Thanksgivings as I'm usually visiting with family then. Gotta help keep up the family poker game.

Obviously the NFL does everything for a reason and there has to be a reason(s) they put such a huge game on Turkey Night.

I would like to hear everyone speculation? Here is something I thought of. How many times does this conversation happen:

NFL Guy: I can't wait to get home from Uncle and Aunt Lou Lou's house to watch the game.

Wifey: I never complain when you watch football all day Sunday, Sunday night, Monday night, and that silly Thursday night stuff on the NFL Network but come on NFL Guy, Turkey Day is a family day and add to that everyone stuck to the NFL games at the get together, and neither of us have to work tomorrow. Please spend the night with me watching The Kardashians?

NFL Guy: Baby Cakes, I love you soooo much and if it were any other teams I would but the night game is the Defending Super Bowl Champs vs. their Arch Rival. The Seahawks and the 49ers are the two best teams in football, this is one of the can't miss games of the year. I promise to spoil you this weekend.

    Wifey: Okay honey, I understand.

They start Black Friday right after you put the leftovers in the fridge these days, the women are always gone anyway, so we should have the best game late.

I was with you word for word until the "Okay honey, I understand." - can't relate to that.

The key to not getting hit with a double whammy on that one is to watch the game at home and not the bar.
