VC is a no doubt HOF. 22 nd all time in points. Dwight will be top 10 in boards, a headache but the hoops Hall is not the MLB, NFL when it comes to vetting.

How many NBA players in the Hall of Fame? Is there anyone in the top 25 in career points and/or rebounds who is not in the HOF? Melo and Howard both have career stats in the top 25.

Then I don't see any way Melo or Howard are denied the Hall of Fame.

There are only two players who have scored 20,000+ who are eligible for the HOF and have not been inducted. And both of those were barely over. No one who has scored above 20,050 points in the NBA has not been inducted (30 players have, 12 are either active or not yet have reached the time period after retirement). Carmelo is over 25,000 and in the top 20 all-time.

    He's a lock.

BTW, to add to my point, if Carmelo matches even last season's diminished scoring (just a hair over 16 PPG) for two more years, he'll be in the top 10 in points all-time. If he can do it for three years (or even at a lower clip for that), then there's a strong likelihood that he'll only be looking up at Kareem, Malone, Kobe, Jordan, Wilt, Dirk, LeBron in points. You may not like him, you may consider him "just a scorer", but be real - the guy is going.

If Tracy McGrady is in the HoF so is Melo. McGrady used to be a punchline cause he couldn't go far in the playoffs, same as Melo.

Also, it's the basketball Hall of Fame, not just NBA. Melo has a National Championship and 3 gold medals. He is a lock.

If Tracy McGrady is a Hall of Famer why shouldn’t Melo be a Hall of Famer?

scored a lot of points... a whole lot of points. His longevity has helped him. High PPG + play a lot of games = a lot of career points

Tom Chambers (NBA 1981-1997, 20,049 points) and Antawn Jamison (1999-2014, 20,042 points). I believe Jamison literally just became eligible. Both are just barely over 20,000 points.

Loved me some Tom Chambers, one of my favorite pros when I was a high school player and vastly underrated as a player.

As for Mello...when I say the name "Mello", the initials HOF do not immediately come to my mind.
