4 years 100m looks a lot better than 4 and 80. Plus LA will have way more "super star" opportunities for him.

Like I said before he's not leaving Nash ( the best PG a big guy could have), Kobe, and 20M for Dirk.

I love Simmons take on this
Only a Lakers-bound Dwight Howard could keep the Sports Guy from writing about the Olympics - Grantland
The guy truly knows and loves his NBA basketball. I've enjoyed his Olympics columns the last few weeks as well

So my question is, how much will the Lakers be paying in penalties for exceeding the salary cap? I mean you have Kobe, Nash, Howard, Gasol, Artest; all of which I would think will be making substantial monies. Plus, I believe I remember reading that Duhon is going to the Lakers and he signed a lucrative contract not too long ago.

Has anyone figured out why Orlando took this deal over the others? Anyone? The didn't even dump Turk. I'm confused.

No doubt. The entire situation was screwed up by Orlando management.

You have the biggest asset in a four team trade and you get the worst of the deal. Orlando fans should boycott. They should have taken the Nets' offer but apparently they didn't want to give Dwight what he wanted while having to deal with him more than twice a season as his opponent. Now it's better to be rock bottom than to be on the fringe without star talent but the front office of the Magic should be ashamed.

I understand the logic but stings when there could have been a much better deal made. I mean Orlando had the best player and got the worst of a 4 team trade. Denver trades Afflalo and Harrington and gets AI in return? Talking about a trade winner. Especially when guys like Chandler, Gallinari can produce points from the wing. Denver will be an intriguing team.

I have no idea, but it happened.

Hennigan was talking down Houston offer's, but its hard for me to believe they couldn't have at least came away with Jeremy Lamb, choice of two of Royce White, T Jones, or P Pat, as well as a couple of first rounders, one of course being Toronto's likely lottery pick. To me that deal better serves the purpose of getting young talent, picks, and shedding cap space. Lamb, White, Jones, and Pat all likely do not total 8 mil in salary combined annually and could be locked into contract for the next four years at a great value. But oh well thats why I'm here and and not a GM, I just think they could have done better even with the offers that were left. Afflalo is a decent glue guy type who will defend and do all the little things. Harkless may be a pretty decent young player, but to me they basically got a couple decent role players when at worst they could have gotten guys like Lamb, White and Jones who have the potential to be role players who could blossom into key players down the road.

I have to believe they could have got more at some point. To wait it out this long and take that crappy deal was a joke.
