  1. Boyd-Blanton,Barker Raceland-Martin,Carver Fairview-Thompson Greenup-Logan,Craft Ashland-Bias,Davis, BARBER Rowan East Carter Russell-Clark, SUITER, HAMILTON Rose Hill BAth Co Lewis West Carter Morgan Co Fleming Help me out here and fill in what you think
  2. Upset? Records are deceiving. Russell is 2-0 against Raceland this year and 1-1 against Greenup. However, Russell is very much Jeckyl and Hyde this year. If Hyde shows up, so long Russell.
  3. Ashland young? Not really. Russell started two freshman.
  4. I don't know all of what is going on at Raceland, but I do know Rowan is a very good team. Losing 10-5 to them is not horrible. The also played Lawrence pretty close the other day too.
  5. I didn't take it that way. I do know that some will say, "Boyd didn't pitch their #1, 2 or 3, so...", so I was just getting that across early.
  6. Boyd pitched Venters, Smithers, Crisp, and Wiler. Russell pitched Suiter and Dillon in the 7th. The Devils never trailed in the game, but Boyd had a chance to win in the bottom of the seventh. Everyone knows Boyd did not pitch their #1, #2, or #3, but the Devils still played well. Kudos. Both teams had 2 errors apiece, I think, but none were deciding factors in the score. Russell pounded out 14 hits and Boyd 11.
  7. That is a pretty nice baseball site. I know Russell has a good one too. http://www.russell-ind.k12.ky.us/baseball Who else around the state has good, indepth websites?
  8. Completely ugly game by the Devils. It appeared they were never ready to play.
  9. Ha Ha! Apparently so. Folks are mad because kids are not signing up for Babe Ruth and are blaming the second JV team. One such folk decided to start a bonfire in protest. However, there needs to be some discussion with parents of those players as to why they decided not to play and some internal reflection on the Babe Ruth's part. Pointing fingers at the high school coaches is the wrong direction to be looking. All I know is that high school baseball teams benefit from a great feeder program. They would never deter kids from playing in good feeder programs. Maybe there is some strife within the Babe Ruth, maybe it is not a good feeder program, or maybe parents have their own bones about why they don't want to sign up.
  10. That is a big load of hogwash. First, why would Russell's coach care if the Babe Ruth's All Star team had non-Russell players on it? Russell's coaching staff has nothing to do with players playing Babe Ruth. They did start a second JV team with 7th and 8th graders playing on it because the numbers were there to do so. However, they are only playing 14 games and will be finished in plenty of time to move over to Babe Ruth. They have NEVER told players they could or could not play Babe Ruth. They have always encouraged players to play Babe Ruth in the past. Why would you not want kids to get more games under their belt? Whatever is going on with players not signing up for Babe Ruth has NOTHING to do with the high school baseball coaching staff. Your best bet is to find out from the parents of the players who did not sign up.
  11. Hmm, well let's see. Phillips gave up two earned runs in the first. Grizzle did strike out the side (the first two were a sophomore starting his first game #7 hitter and freshman # 8 hitter), but not before giving up a single to a senior and walking another senior. He was throwing well, but not dominating. Morris looked great. It definitely would have been a much different ballgame had one of the Rams aces pitched the entire game, but: #1 -The Devils couldn't have easily been shutout by the three you named since they scored 2 earned runs off of Phillips. #2 - No matter who the Rams pitched, all of their regulars batted the entire game and only managed 5 hits and 1 earned run off a Russell pitcher who is definitely NOT their ace. How about actually giving the Devils their due. You sacrifice a DISTRICT game to count it like a scrimmage? I doubt it.
  12. What do you mean by "west"? Where is the cutoff. I have the stat book with Russell's record through their history. I'm going to call the "west" west of Lexington. Remember, some of these games are from WAY back. Here are their records against those teams: Carroll County: 1-0 Danville: 0-1 Franklin County: 0-4 Male: 0-1 Louisville Manual: 0-1 Mercer Co.: 2-0 North Oldham: 1-0 Oldham County: 0-1 Woodford Co: 2-0 Owensboro Catholic: 1-0 That is a total record of 7-7.
