  1. Very competitive district. Head coach is Marcus Kimbrell. I don't know who the coordinators are this year. Last years defensive coordinator left for the same position at a Indianapolis H.S. and offensive and strength coordinator left for a position at Trinity H.S. My understanding is that they return almost all of the defense and a big part of the offense, minus a couple key receivers. Word from some of the players is the biggest changes will be on the offensive side. Apparently they are going to run some variation of the Franklin System, but it still remains a bit of a mystery. They should compete well in most, if not all games, and make a run for the district championship.
  2. congrats to coach bates. who else applied. just curious, b/c there was not much talk about this job.
  3. Coach Prince left Ohio County to go to Union County. Coach Royce Hood took Ohio County over when Prince left. Coach Settles followed Hood's 1 year of service. As mentioned several times throughout the thread, Settles is a good coach and a wonderful person. Good luck to him, his staff, and players at Lincoln County.
  4. Class A: Beechwood v Hazard (Beechwood wins) Class AA: Fort Campbell v Newport Central Catholic (NCC wins) Class AAA: Russellville v Belfry (Belfry wins) Class AAAA: Lone Oak v Lexington Catholic (L.C. wins) Class AAAAA: Bowling Green v Highlands (B.G. wins) Class AAAAAA: Trinity v St. X (Trinity wins) I expect all these games will be very interesting, with no team winning by more than 14 points.
  5. Daviess County Football has seem to made a big improvement in a year's time. They've been able to win some ball games and be competitive in the losses, minus the Owensboro game. One thing that I've noticed is that they only have like 4 coaches. I'm curious if this is about the number of coaches that most high schools have. They are a Class 6A program and it just seems a bit low to me. We are a 5A school and have eight or nine, maybe we just are very fortunate. Good luck to all Owensboro/Daviess County Schools in the rest of the season and play-offs.
