  1. Totally agree. Freel/Hamilton could be combined in a deal for serviceable arms. No one will trade for Griffey now when they can have him for a song next season.

  3. Couldn't remember...Thanks. :thumb: Also, isn't Baker the first African-American manager? Because Tony Perez is hispanic right?
  4. The last time the Reds hired a manager with no ties to the organization was 1990, when Lou Piniella took over and led the team to a World Series championship. Every manager since has either come from the minors, the coaching staff or from a scouting/advisory role. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=3063503 Where does Davey Johnson fit in this picture? He was an outside hire right?
  5. Bell signed on to be part of minor league instruction this week with the White Sox. http://canadianpress.google.com/article/ALeqM5hk02Z56O_Ge6kTy1vOrVucJtfH5Q And, according to Lance's blog...Bob Brenly is not a candidate for the job. The Reds would have to move off their "extremley short list" for his name to become a factor. Joe Girardi is not interested in the job. All signs point to Dusty Baker. http://www.1530homer.com/pages/lancesBlog.html Personally, the Tom Kelly idea isn't bad. Guy knows the game. What about Jack McKeon - he's better than Baker. Please don't let it be Baker.

  7. Pickup his option. In hindsight, I'm glad the Reds didn't deal away this year. (There I said it HSSB!) Pickup his option, if things flounder by July 08 trade him or pickup the option then shop him this offseason. I'm fine with keeping him if they go after some pitching via a trade, which would mean dealing key player with a high ceiling/low money, such as Josh Hamilton in a combo deal with other dead weight like Freel, Ross, Gonzo...

  11. Any takers on Brett Tomko? He was DFA to make room for D. Wells!!! Seriously though, Belisle was impressive this weekend. Arroyo has won back-to-back starts and Harang is at the top of his game. Things are clicking right now, still a long shot but it's fun to watch again isn't it!
