  1. Melon Remember this quote: "Don't pass judgement until you walk in that persons shoes" No one holds the current coach (use the singular when speaking of the coach) responsible for the condition the program is in. Even though one is actually trying and the other was just getting paid for doing nothing. And the term GRANDSTANDING that you use sounds like a personal attack on the former coach. Lets call it ATTRACTING ATTENTION to a sport that was successful and still recieved no cooperation from the former administration. And when you stated "fact that the wrestling doesn't generate much if any revenue, a sport like wrestling can't afford the grandstanding and battles with Administrators that occured at PCC." it seems that you are saying that a coach should lay down and take it and make no waves in their supprt for his/her athletes in fear of the administration punishment. And if you really have walked in this persons shoes then you would have the knowledge of the title IX issue. Read TITLE IX and maybe you can understand and have a different perspective of the situtation. And yes maybe the former coach should leave welll enough alone, that seems to be the way it is done in pike county. But he has a differnt mind set then the Good old Boys, if you really know him. And in closing you should also ask some the wrestlers at the school who they want to coach them. And thats all I have to say about that!
  2. Pike Centrals wrestling team was distroyed by the former administrator due the fact that the former adiminsrtator had a personal vendatta against the former head coach. Now the new administrator has stated that he does not like the path the program is going and wants the coach back. He stated " Since I now have full control of the school now" I want the former head coach back. He fails to realize that with no mat there can not be a program and since the Pike County AD (A, Casey) went back on his promise to purchase a new mat many see the program finally dying out completely. The former head coach has had chances of moving to other schools but his heart is at PC since he started the program there. Has anyone heard anyhting?
  3. Thanks!!!! Pike Central is in need of a mat for next year
  4. I applauded you insight "Herosofthegame" on the situation. But sadly enough politics will not leave Pike County when it deals with athletics or basiclly in our childrens education. This could be a story line for the "Good Old Boy Syndrome." I have met Coach Hampton and found him the making of a very good coach. Under the situation he took over the job he did a heck of a job with the program. Coach Hampton had plans to improve his team by implementing a new program next season that would have only increased his player speed, strength, aggression and agility. But many have used this following quoted to signify what athletics are in Pike County. "If its not round and don't bounce it doesn't count!" It is amazing to me that the "Powers to Be" can not see that athletics at any school should support one another. The best example is Belfry. A success story that took years to develop, not just over night. Look at the success of these programs: Football, Basketball, Track, Volleyball, and Baseball. Not just a one mind set of athletics. But an overall developement of success that is known state wide.
  5. First:I watched SV play and under the situation that the Head Coach inherited the position I think he did a great job. Second: I do not and would not understand the possibility of rehiring BHoward for the position. Under the circumstances why he left the program. Thirdly: Just because a person plays college ball and his family member was a former head coach does not make him a good coach. Experience from the ground up makes a good coach IMO. Being exposed to a seasoned Head Coach makes his assit. good head coaches for the future IMO.
  6. Sorry. I came in late to this forum. What happened to Anthony Hampton?
  7. Thanks for the info. I do not believe the school will purchase the mat,Thus I believe the former coach is looking into purchasing one ...And believe this ot not....No strings attached either.
  8. Has anyone contacted Mr. La Rocco, former coach at PCCHS, he really wants to get back in the game again.
  9. Region8fan, I guess if you want to call it a team. 6 possibly 7 kids. And two coaches that know nothing of the sport except for the money they are being paid. Not like the teams in the past. At least the previous teams competed against many of the top teams in the state and traveled all over the state to get the experience. But now the former head coach wants to find a mat for them since the former administrator sold them to kill the program. Vendictive little person he was "IMO" Sad situation, again.
  10. Thanks, I did look at that site. What is the name brand of the mats used at the state. If I am not mistaken they are a little cheeper.
  11. The wrestling program, at Pike Central, is currently without a mat due to the former administrators decision to sell it. The former head coach is looking to purchase a wrestling mat for the team. Mat must be at least 40X40 and in good condition. Anyone knowing of one for sale please respond to this thread. Thanks,
