Have fun! That is certainly a dream trip. Just watch out for that continent’s many dangerous critters (maybe I watch too many of those “72 Most Dangerous Animals” type shows, lol.)

I think most UK fans have had about all of the Music City Bowl that they can stomach. It was exciting the first two times but it’s popularity has worn thin. But if that’s the best offer that’ll probably be the destination. A big drop from what we were hoping for, which a win yesterday would have probably secured.

This take is 100% spot on! Everything has changed since the 1st half of the South Carolina game and teams have made the same adjustments. Plus, UK has a very good defense, one of the best in the nation, but the lack of offense is keeping them on the field too much and too often. They’re beat to a frazzle.

Offense totally stagnated and predictable. I hope I have to eat crow with this statement but this game is officially over. UK’s offense will not overcome a 17 point deficit.

Just going on most pregame and postgame reports I’ve read about Southern Illinois, they’re not exactly an easy game——in any year. They’re usually an NCAA team in March and never an easy out.

Quickly looked good. Someone is going to have to run the team and maybe he’s the one.

Not a scrimmage but Owsley County has their annual Maroon/White Night tonight, Nov 10. They’ve been doing this event for around 35 years. It was moved up from a later date because starting next week much needed new bleachers will be installed.

I agree, 10th wasnít a good fit for Estill County. But their problem is they are in a far corner of any region they could possibly be in. Their location places them at the southern end of the 10th, southeastern end of the 11th, as far north as location can be in the 12th and 13th, and the farthest school to the northwest in the 14th. Theyíre actually not a good fit for any region if one is looking at it geographically.

I’m not sure about when the ratings first appear but I would think for sure within the next couple of weeks. The season begins for most teams on November 26.

That’s a heck of an opening game for both teams. Both should be highly rated.

The way Duke shot the ball and played last night no one in the nation can touch them. They would have beaten Kansas or Michigan State by 20+ points. Or maybe 30. That was an incredible performance. UK got all out of sorts and looked terrible for most the game but Duke’s studs were the reason. Williamson is unreal. He’s a bigger version of Charles Barkley and that’s scary.

Duke is playing excellent defense on Kentuckyís foul shots.

I don’t mean to get off track of this thread but your post reminds me of a conversation I had with an Estill school official years ago. They were happy to get out of the 10th and into the 14th back in 2006. Nothing against the 10th but the people I knew in the system at that time felt they had a better opportunity to compete in the 14th and last year proved it when they won the 14th region. A school official told me once that one year...

Is the Michigan-Ohio State game in the Big House or the Shoe? That could make a difference in the outcome.

Cats simply lost to a better team. They got started on the wrong end of the score with Georgiaís quick 7 in the first few minutes and it was uphill from that moment until the end.

Yes, I see that now in the stats. I was wrong, not as hot as I thought. They missed most in the second half when they got tired.

After watching their defensive effort last night I have switched my opinion and tend to agree with this post. However, I would bet the farm that Duke doesnít shoot the 3 like UKís opponent did last night. They were hot from behind the arc. But Duke may get most their points by attacking the basket and putback shots.

I don’t think Georgia will roll through Kentucky’s defense to that amount. The Cats have a solid D. Georgia does have the more talented and deeper team. If they can withstand that sellout crowd and the extreme noise levels they should win by a score of 7-10 points, but not 3 touchdowns.

Owsley County has all their players back from a 12-16 season, so that alone suggests there should be improvement on their record. The district will not be very strong this year, with defending district and region champ Estill County returning only one starter, Powell County returning three, and Lee County coming off a winless season. The Owls also have the benefit of hosting the district tournament. Powell County is probably preseason #1 but...

That’s probably correct in my home county. There’s a group of counties in my area that do not have high school football and a lot of the people, particularly the older generation, don’t follow football but are crazy about basketball. There’s still a sizable UK football following but not at the percentages other counties have.

Owsley County has had a “Maroon and White Night” for many years. Probably goes back to the early 1980’s. It involves all the basketball programs, girls and boys, from the elementary through the high school varsity and also includes introduction of the cheerleaders and the band.

What’s the capacity of the stadium and will they, or are they, permitted to go over it?

I don’t follow baseball much anymore. The strike that wiped out the 1994 World Series soured me on the game with the exception of watching some of the post season. However, this Red Sox team is the best I’ve seen since the 1976 Reds WS champs, which is one of the greatest of all time.

I don’t know if it determined why he wasn’t playing toward the end of the game or not but Snell got into a verbal spat with the coaches after his 15 yard penalty. He was very animated and my guess is it didn’t go over too well with the coaches. He’s a great player but needs to not be so high strung with his emotions.

Coaches must be really steamed at Snell to not have him in the game for that last drive.

I hope that was an anomaly. Iím hoping that might be one of their strong points this year. I donít think Herro will have many off shooting nights like this game very often. Quickly and Johnson could also be good 3 shooters.
