A lot of batted balls are also taken out of play. Unless you're at the game OR get an unusual camera angle, you don't see it. You see all the pitched balls that bounce and are taken out of play because that is where the camera is focused. Also, authentication is a huge thing now. If you ever notice, just about every ball taken out of play, broken bats and other things I am guessing are sent to a guy right next to the dugout who has a sheet of...

Clemson dominated UofL. Jackson was not as good as he usually is (execution of called play OR creativity) and that was because of Clemson D. Not sure if any more called runs would have helped take some pressure off Jackson, but would have liked to have seen them try. Williams is gonna be a good RB if he stays healthy. UofL D was not good, but Clemson QB performed better than could have been expected given the situations, Alexander loss is...

Big back in short yardage situations, but the OL doesn't block those situations very well and spreading the defense out and giving LJ options is usually more effective than a traditional line surge and fall forward to get a yard anyway. Who is RB3 assuming Williams and Bonnafon are 1 & 2?

Isn't as good as the team that whipped FSU and challenged Clemson? I agree. Isn't as good as the team that finished the season? That is a very low bar which I think they've exceeded. If Williams can establish himself as RB1 with changeup efforts from Bonnafon and Jeremy Smith (who didn't dress today), the read option with Lamar becomes a weapon. After BARELY stopping UNC on a critical 4th & goal (dude probably scores if he doesn't fumble),...

Thanks for the tip. Sounds like Dave needs to change the battery in his smoke detector. :)

LEO was not right and the Mayor and Police Chief statement admit as such. Implied consent was tossed in UT over a decade ago and by Supreme Court a year ago. There can be consequences for failing to provide a blood sample (if you're conscious), but that doesn't mean if you can't consent they have the right to draw blood. Think of the drunk driving example. By driving you recognize (impliedly consent) that if you are pulled over and refuse to...

Also, Brando and Tillman were BRUTAL. I expected more out of them. Not knowing the rule on clock restarting on out of bounds plays until 2:00 at end of half and game was basic. All the praise for the Purdue defense "bottling up" LJ and UofL after halftime was completely off base. UofL dominated the yardage and drives but fumbled 2x at goal line - 1 not even forced by Purdue. Hopefully it was just early season sloppiness for them as well.

Agree. Even discounting the injury (that can happen on any play), you have a fairly low % chance to get the ball into better field position than if you leave it alone AND you introduce the possibilities of penalties (happens all the time on such freaky plays) and fumbling the ball (which he did and they never really focused on it because of the injury and the fact that UofL recovered it)

1st game sloppiness was all over the place this weekend. UofL just was at the top of the list. It would be less troubling if it weren't an extension of last season and reflective of what Petrino prioritizes as a HC. I could almost live with a bunch of penalties if they were borne out of aggression & passion, but these were just silly. 15 played reasonably well after 10 went out. Thought the PI on him was a bad call but could see how the ref...

99% credit goes to LJ. 1% credit goes to the OL for that stat.

What is rule on blocked FG? Where is ball spotted if never touched by defense and either rolls dead or is downed by kicking team? If it gets spotted at the LOS or at the place where it was kicked, not a smart play by Alexander to pick it up and run with it. If it's like a punt, I have no problem with him trying to make a play. He's an exciting, game changer at returner, so go do your thing. The fact that he was injured on the play just...

Remember in college they often look at and confirm many plays via replay that never get commented on. Why disrupt the flow of the game? If they review and its confirmed before next snap, no action. If they haven't finished review OR they are going to overturn before next snap, they'll buzz the white hat. (At least that's the way I think it works.)
