I feel like I've met Jason Belcher from my short time living in Pike Co. Who does he write for on the regular? His piece was really good.

Voting and patronizing are two different things. Everything you are talking about is patronizing a business. Similar principles, I'll grant, but it's still different. Voting is a specific thing you do to choose who represents you. Your OJ seller can't decide if your street's potholes get fixed.

That's what happens when you act like the Civil Rights Act "fixed" all our problems when it comes to race issues. The struggle continues.

My memory sometimes fails, but I think yes. They used to use the GB Packers "G" as well. Was about 6-7 years ago. May have worn that in their state SF year.

I'm curious about something: Whether the corporate tax rate is 35 or 15 percent, why is that seen as a guarantee that corporations will repatriate their money? Zero percent overseas is still preferable to 15 or 35. I'm still, as always, skeptical that corporations are interested in "America First."

Umm … yeah. Since Trump won't release his tax returns and won't divest from all of the creepy ways he is using the office to continue to enhance the monetization of "his brand." But see below. And I'm not even an Obama fan, so I feel no obligation to defend him on this. You guys need to stop acting like "ethics" matter in grand scale national politics. Our senior senator in Ky is the master of making his exalted position work for his bank...

Best I got is I played on arguably the best intramural team on campus at WKU during my time there — won a title and two other final fours. Was more of a player-coach though. I installed a devastating 1-2-1-1 press that resulted in us beating a team by 100+ points once. I was the victory cigar if I got into the game. :lol2: Through that, I did get to play with Darnell Mee, who had a cup of coffee in the NBA. He was Prop 48 the year he was with...

I wish, when I was in 5th grade and I told my folks I wanted to be in "a band," they wouldn't have misunderstood that to mean I wanted to be in "the band" at school. Maybe I'd have gotten a guitar instead of a trombone. Chicks don't much dig the trombone. They dig the guitar. I have the lyrics, and I hear the music to go with them in my head, but I have no way to introduce them to the world. I'm thinking about offering those lyrics up to some...

I would presume so, but I don't know exactly how that works out in terms of trade for services rendered as far as paying on-air talent and behind-the-scenes technical people.

I don't know if "own" is the proper term. More of a partnership between the network and the conferences.

I find it interesting and funny that folks are acting like the intersection of sports and social/politics is something new. Some more "new" examples: From Cassius Clay to Muhammad Ali Teddy Roosevelt calling for the banning of football WWI soldiers having a cease-fire so they could play a soccer game Tommie Smith and John Carlos Jesse Owens winning at Hitler's Olympics 1972 Munich terrorist attacks Jackie Robinson Roberto Clemente

Point being, you can't ignore something like that anymore than journalists in 1968 couldn't have ignored Tommie Smith and John Carlos at the Olympics.

AbFab is a British comedy series that tracks the lives of two middle-aged British tarts who are caught up in the high-fashion world. It ran on Comedy Central for a time back in the 90s, preceding John Stewart on The Daily Show. Folks who watch BBC America on the regular would be familiar. Anyway, it just showed up on NetFlix recently, and if you are a fan of British humor and general silliness, you'll like it, Sweetie Darling. Hysterical...

They overpaid for the rights on everything, and forced competing networks to do the same. There's gonna be a big, ugly correction coming when the current round of contracts are up.

Big ups to Jumper_Dad for not polluting his original post with silly things, like "can you compete in NASCAR?" Because I can totally do that. I can drive really, really fast in tight quarters. The beauty of pro athletes is they can do something none of us can. I'm not particularly impressed by the "athletic ability" of race car drivers when the most athletic thing they do is drive for a few hundred miles in hot temps. They don't even have to...

So they're just supposed to ignore it? I mean, I understand doing that when there are streakers on the field, but this is different. If ESPN has any semblance left of journalistic values, they can't possibly ignore something of the magnitude of a former starting QB in the Super Bowl doing something like what Kaepernick did. The other networks would eat their lunch over it.

No doubt about it. I "used to be" pretty good. I'm not that guy anymore. But, the last time I played tennis, I still had some stuff, and even got a few of my bomber serves in. Not that those would be a problem for Venus or any other WTA player. My opponent was not that caliber. :lol2:

I thought about that one for a minute. I had great junk and control back in the day. Then yesterday, a stray softball drifted over into my area, and when I went to throw it back (about a 15-yard toss), it went embarrassingly way wide right. I blamed it on the rust crumbling off my once rubber-arm.

With her placement, you wouldn't want her to hit it right at you. Could be emasculating, literally.

She's likely not been clocked that fast in several years, given her health issues, outside interests, and the effects of aging. I can play some tennis, but I'm sure I'd struggle at facing down her 100mph serve even if I knew exactly where it was going. Nope.

Where did you see that? Most guys on the pro tour don't average 129. Unless you saw it in KPH. Venus can still get her first serve into the 100s MPH, though, and that's fast for somebody who doesn't see that kind of speed+placement on a regular basis.

When I went to The Banshee my freshman year at WKU (do they still do this party on the grand scale they used to?) Anyway, it was pouring down rain, so we all packed into some big building there at Beech Bend. Hot, humid, sticky, condensation coming from the rooftop. I glance over and see this guy, butt-naked, on all fours on this big table-top looking thing. The six guys carrying him were all also butt-naked. Saw my first-ever nude beer...

Same here. And it also depends on my mood. Sometimes 8-12 hours a day of being a "people person" causes me to want to check out of society for a while and not be around anybody.

If you really want to mess up a bunch of corporate zombies on a full elevator ride, instead of doing the accepted behavior and walking in and turning to face the door like everyone else, go ahead and don't turn around and stare right into their faces for the whole elevator ride. The uncomfortableness quotient will go through the roof. Especially if you start acting like you know everybody in there and start talking about the mythical party you...

Perhaps, but from a business standpoint they're doing what they had to do to protect the bottom line and get advertisers back on board in a prime-time, high-dollar time slot.
