    Parts of Kentucky may see strong to severe storms later today. Strong to severe storms will be possible ahead of a cold front. Especially this afternoon and evening. Isolated damaging wind gusts and hale look to be the most common threats. From 2 pm till 2 am EDT

    The Storm Prediction Center has most of Kentucky in a Slight Risk Area for possible strong to severe storms later today. Severe thunderstorms are possible today that could produce hail and strong wind gusts. The tornado threat is almost nonexistent but can't be completely ruled out. For now the timing looks to be late afternoon into the early evening hours.

    The chance for strong to severe weather looks to return Monday afternoon for western Kentucky. The possible severe weather could return on Tuesday afternoon/evening for parts of central and eastern Kentucky. Check back for updates in the morning.     Kentucky Derby Day forecast: Showers will move into the Louisville area this morning and last most of the day. After morning temps of around the mid 40s, the temps look to rise during the afternoon to the mid to upper 50s around post time. The showers should start leaving the Louisville area during the afternoon. Some may linger to around the start of the race. Precipitation totals look to be from .10-.25" in the Louisville area.

    Sorry I haven't updated in a while. I've been working at least 12 hrs for the past couple of days. The outlook for Derby Saturday. For the Louisville area The morning temps look to be in the low 40s before precipitation moves in around 6 am EDT. Showers look to linger around most of the day. They should clear out by around late afternoon or early evening. The temps look to be in the mid 50s around post time with maybe some lingering...

    Saturday is now in the range of the NAM model and it is also showing temps in the mid to upper 30s by 5 am Saturday morning with light showers early in the morning. A heavier batch of showers looks to move in around mid morning and lingering around most of the afternoon. Temps look to be in the low to mid 40s where the rain falls. The following simulated model runs only go to around 2 pm EDT. Check back for updates later.

    Here's the first outlook for this weekend's Kentucky Derby. Saturday morning 5/6/17 Temps in the low to mid 30s little or no chance of showers 2 pm EDT Temps in the upper 40s to low 50s chance of light showers.

    Parts of Kentucky mainly west of I-65 are in a Slight Risk Area for strong to severe storms today into tonight. This includes a risk for storms capable of producing tornadoes, a couple of which could be strong. The modeling data for now is showing the main threat being late this afternoon into the early evening hours the main storms the line of storms going through WKY. They should be in the I-65 corridor area around midnight. Around 2 am EDT...
