Good morning everyone. I"m going to up my total just a bit from last night. The snow looks to be scattered with pockets that may produce more accumulations totals. As of this morning. In my second call for snow accumulations, I'm seeing around an inch in the Lexington and around Jackson. Northern Kentucky to around Maysville about 1/2 inch. I'm seeing 1/2 inch also in the Somerset area. Most of the other parts of Kentucky will see only a...

This is my first call for possible light snow on Saturday. Looks like it won't amount to much but travel headaches on the roads. Very light accumulations are expected. Dusting to 1/2 mainly from around the I-64 corridor northward. I will update later this evening and in the morning.

For now, I'm seeing maybe an inch in the Ashland area. Please remember this is not an official call for snow accumulations yet. This just what the NAM weather model is showing this afternoon.

There is still some difference in the modeling data. The GFS has about a dusting to 1 inch of snow mainly north of I-64 by Saturday night. The NAM is a little stronger with the snow with 1-3 inches mainly from around Louisville to the Cincinnati/NKY area. 1-2" mainly east of I-65 with upwards to around 3" in parts of southeast Kentucky. I will give an update in the morning. I want to see some more model runs before I start giving my offical...

There's still some difference in the timing of the various models. The GFS has about .5 of an inch of snow in that area by Saturday morning. the NAM has the snow moving in slower with about the same amount of snow by Saturday evening. Temps look to be in the mid to upper 20s. I'll update in the morning for you.

Should start getting a good read on this weekend tomorrow. I'm waiting to see how the models change if any after today's system has passed. Sometimes these systems affect how the models see the future. For the following weekend, I'm seeing the possibility of more accumulating snow.

You should be ok. Dry conditions with temps mainly in the mid to upper 20s. For now I'm not seeing any road condition problems until during the day on Friday. Be safe on your trip my friend. Of course if I see any changes I'll let you know.

Just to give everyone a look at what I've been seeing for next weekend. Remember this is just a snapshot in time. Let me say this, THIS IS NOT I repeat NOT an official call for snow accumulations. This is for informational purposes only. I probably won't start predicting snow accumulations to around Wednesday or Thursday. This is what the 10:1 ratio snow accumulation map is showing for 7 am EST next Saturday Morning. This is what the...

One thing I neglected to mention is that the GFS, CFS and Canadian GDPS models are now all showing some winter event for the weekend of the 9th. There is a difference though in track and possible snow accumulations. So keep checking back for updates.

The Climate Prediction Center in their 8-14 day Hazards Outlook has western Indiana all Of Ohio and parts of northern/northeastern Kentucky with a chance of snow next weekend. Also, the same areas have a moderate chance of below normal temperatures. This mornings GFS run has the clipper system that is projected to give us a chance of snow taking a more southerly track. I want to wait and see if this trend continues before I post anything....

Here's what the latest GFS is showing for the start of next weekend 12/8. The first one shows the low-pressure system that could usher in the first accumulating snow for most of Kentucky. As of tonight, the system looks to pass just north of Kentucky. As everyone can see if the system takes a more southerly track and holds to what the GFS is showing some could be looking at some significant snow accumulations. This map shows how the snow...

just a quick note. The GFS is showing from December 6-12 how much snow we may get. As always we are too far out for a definitive call on snow accumulations. This is just to give a heads up to everyone. Keep checking back for updates.

As I've been watching parts of Kentucky may receive it's first accumulation of snow the second weekend of December. A front looks to pass through Kentucky on Wednesday bringing with a chance for rain. Temps could drop from the mid 40s to upper 20s by Thursday morning. The highs look to range from the upper 30s in western parts of the state to low 30s east of I-65 for Friday. Friday evening a clipper system looks to pass through Kentucky...

Here's a little update. Now first let me say this is not a prediction. I just wanted to update everyone one the possible winter precipitation around the middle of December. That time period is now in the range of the GFS. Both the GFS and CFS long range models are showing something possible for around the 15th of next month. While they both are showing this they differ greatly for now on any possible accumulations. Once again I'm not saying this...

The threat for strong to severe storms has increased. The Storm Prediction Center has raised the threat level for parts of Kentucky and southern Indiana from Marginal to Slight. This is mainly west of I-65. The rest of Kentucky is in a Marginal Risk area except for parts of eastern Kentucky. Thunderstorms capable of severe wind gusts, marginal hail, and a brief tornado will be possible Saturday afternoon into the early evening hours. As of...

These two maps show the winds and showers as the front passes through Kentucky. The time slot is from 10 am to 7 pm EST. The first one is the simulated radar. This one is the wind/temperature map. It shows exactly what the wind advisory is saying. We could see a 10-15 degree temperature drop after the front passes through your area.
