These two maps show the winds and showers as the front passes through Kentucky. The time slot is from 10 am to 7 pm EST. The first one is the simulated radar. This one is the wind/temperature map. It shows exactly what the wind advisory is saying. We could see a 10-15 degree temperature drop after the front passes through your area.

I've been watching the long-range CFS model for about a week now. It has been going back and forth but has been showing accumulating snow around the middle of December. Now let me caution everyone this is not a prediction. This is way too far in advance to accurately predict anything. I'm just showing this for informational purposes only. I'll be keeping an eye on it post updates as we get closer.

Those in the Cincinnati/NKY area should be on the lookout for severe weather this evening. You are now in an Enhanced Risk area for strong to severe storms this evening. Cincinnati is presently under a Tornado Watch until 7 pm EST. Expect that watch to be replaced with another one before the first one expires. It also may be expanded to include more of Kentucky.

The possibility for severe weather has increased so I'm issuing Severe Weather Alert for later today. The Storm Prediction has expanded the areas for possible severe weather late this afternoon into the evening hours. Most of Indiana and part of western Ohio are now in an Enhanced Risk Area for strong to severe storms. The leading edge of the Enhanced Risk Area is so close to Kentucky so that is one reason I'm issuing this alert. The following...

Saturday morning update: Scattered severe thunderstorms capable of producing large hail, damaging winds, and a few tornadoes may occur across parts of the Ohio Valley on Sunday. Scattered large hail, some of which may be significant, could occur with the initial supercell development particularly in western/central Indiana. The tornado potential should be greatest along the warm front through Sunday afternoon. This looks to be mainly in the...

Scattered severe thunderstorms capable of producing large hail, damaging winds, and a few tornadoes may be possible on Sunday. With this possible threat, I'm starting this new thread. As everyone can see by the new map the Storm Prediction Center has expanded their map since last night to include more of Kentucky with at least a Marginal Risk threat for strong to severe storms. Updates will come later today.

The Storm Prediction Center has increased the area for the possibility of strong to severe storms on Sunday. Our members in Indiana, Ohio and NKY area should keep an eye on the weather for Sunday afternoon into the evening hours. For now, the modeling timing is not in good agreement. Trends continue to point to severe thunderstorms capable of large hail, damaging winds. An isolated tornado or two is now in the realm of possibility. As...

Thursday morning update. Most if not all of Kentucky will see temps in the low to mid-70s on Sunday. Dew points look to be in the mid to upper 60s. So some of the ingredients look to be present for the possibility of strong to severe storms. As of now, the threat is low but really depends on the timing of the passing of a strong cold front that looks to pass through Kentucky Sunday through Monday. I will update this evening or earlier if...
