    The severe weather threat has increased since last night. The very latest just released by the Storm Prediction Center at 2 am EDT now has parts of Kentucky in a category 4 Moderate Risk Area for severe storms later today. This area is from just east of Paducah and includes Madisonville, Owensboro, Louisville, Bowling Green to just west of Frankfort.     Quick update. Multiple rounds of storms are expected tomorrow Scattered storms Friday morning with a few severe Numerous storms Late Friday afternoon into the evening hours with many severe storms possible. The best timing for the storms later in the day on Friday, for now, is 5 pm to 2 am Saturday morning. The threats look to be Numerous Thunderstorms Large hail up to 2 inches Wind gusts 60-70 mph

    The Storm Prediction Center has increased in size the category 3 Enhanced Risk Area to include all of Kentucky west of I-65. A category 2 Slight Risk Area is centered around the I-75 corridor while parts of Eastern Kentucky are in a category 1 Marginal Risk Area for strong to severe storms Friday afternoon into the evening hours.     I'm issuing a Severe Weather Alert Day for Friday afternoon into the evening hours. It appears that the severe weather threat has grown for parts of Kentucky. The Storm Prediction Center has issued a category 3 Enhanced Risk Area for parts of Southern Indiana and Kentucky. The area includes the following cities. Owensboro, Louisville, Frankfort and Bowling Green. There is also a category 2 Slight Risk Area that surrounds the Enhance Risk Area....

    Parts of Kentucky are in a category 2 Slight Risk Area for strong to severe storms Friday afternoon into the evening hours. All hazards from severe storms could be seen by some.     Those in the Cincinnati/NKY area are in a Category 1 Marginal Risk Area for strong to severe thunderstorms this afternoon. These look to be scattered in nature and mainly damaging wind threat. There is a possibility for some large hail in the most intense cells. The timing looks to be later afternoon into the early evening hours.

    Beryl is no longer a tropical system but it is forecast to regenerate later in the week. For now, there appears Beryl poses no danger to the U.S. mainland. Those who may be planning a vacation in the Bahamas or have interest in that area should keep an eye on this system.

    Hot and humid conditions look to return for parts of Kentucky by Wednesday. This is mainly for those west of the I-65 corridor. Those west of I-65 could see heat index from the mid-90s to around 100 degrees on Tuesday. Wednesday afternoon the heat really gets cranked up for the same area I mentioned above.     This is now Tropical Depression #3. It is forecasted to remain offshore then start moving northeastward after the weekend after which it should become a hurricane. For now no real threat to land.

    Tiny Beryl has become a hurricane. Maximum sustained winds are 75 mph with movement west at 14 mph. Some additional strengthening is forecast for later today. Beryl is forecasted to quickly weaken by late Saturday and become a tropical storm.

    I just got back home from Lexington and took a quick look at the latest forecast for Beryl. It is forecast to become a hurricane by Friday or Saturday. Then maybe degenerate after passing the Lesser Antilles. So we'll have to wait and see if it does indeed degenerate from hurricane strength.
