The threat level has subsided some but there still remains a threat for strong to severe storms later today. For now, it seems it like it will be a more scattered storm event. The Storm Prediction Center has lowered their threat level to a Marginal Risk Area. The main threats from these possible storms look to be damaging winds and hail. The timing looks to be from between 8-11 pm EDT. There seem to be two separate batches of storms that could...

Looks like most if any of the storms will hold off until around 11 pm. Those that may try to fire up look to be mainly in the Lexington area. Damaging winds and hail look to be the main threats under the stronger storms.

The potential is there for the formation of strong to severe storm later today for parts of Kentucky. The Storm Prediction Center has some of Kentucky in a Marginal Risk Area for severe storms. The conditions look to be favorable for scattered supercell storm development that could produce damaging winds and hail. While the tornado threat is low at the moment a weak tornado or two can't be completely ruled out. As for the timing the...

nWo started a thread Severe Weather Alert Day in Weather
I'm issuing a Severe Weather Alert Day mainly because it seems that the best chance for a more organized severe weather event will after midnight. The Storm Prediction Center has downgraded the severe threat for most of Kentucky for today. The Cincinnati/NKY area is still in a Marginal Risk Area for strong to severe storms. The main threat look to be damaging winds, hail. A tornado or two can't be completely ruled out.

The severe weather threat for Wednesday afternoon into the overnight hours continue. The modeling data continues to show that condition may develop that will be conducive to the development of strong to severe thunderstorms. Supercell storm development may also be possible. The main threats at this time look to be damaging winds and hail. For now, the tornado threat is low so I'm going to hold off on issuing a severe weather alert day until...

The chance for severe weather Wednesday afternoon into the early morning hours on Thursday appears to have grown some since yesterday. Here is what the latest NAM EHI is showing the likely conditions could be from around 2 pm to 2 am EDT. Here's the GFS radar for the same time period. I'm watching this very closely now as we get closer. I will update early Tuesday morning.

Just checked the latest NAM. The timing still looks to be between 5-8 pm ET for the possible thunderstorms some of which could be on the strong to severe side this evening. The severe threat while it has diminished for the NKY area it is on the increase for the Louisville area. As of right now the mainly threats look to be damaging wind gust and heavy rain where the stronger storms develop. I'm short on time and will update later.
