"As I walk through the valley where I harvest my grain, I take a look at my wife and realize she's very plain..." Last summer Weird Al was performing at a venue 15 minutes from my house. I really wanted to go, but didn't want to tell anyone I was going. Totally screwed up that one.

The problem with that play was not UM, it was Oregon failing to use their fouls. Last night was a perfect example as to why the NCAA tournament is exciting.... for all the wrong reasons (h/t Skip Bayless). Kids in college do not understand time, situation, or spacing. I need to drastically lower my expectations when I watch these games and remember that these are 19-21 year old kids that really have no clue of what is happening.

True, but if we have learned anything, it is not to count out Bill Self to not have his team prepared when you least expect it.

Add in Florida, Wisconsin, Baylor, and South Carolina and one of those six will be playing for the national title.

When that back court is firing on all cylinders KU is far and away the best team in the country. 1 through 3 KU is filthy at times. Makes you wonder how they have looked pedestrian much of the season?

I flew into Mesa on Allegiant but was staying with a friend in North Scottsdale. I'd guess you could be to Goodyear from Mesa in about half an hour. It is crazy how large Phoenix-Metro is, but it is incredibly easy to navigate. Cactus League is very convenient compared to the Grapefruit League when it comes to accessibility. Furthest drive you'd have, assuming you are reasonably located, is 45 minutes.

Anyone familiar with my history knows how silly I think it is to make blanket statements about conferences based upon bowl and tournament results. The ACC was great and probably the best conference. The ACC has not performed well in the tournament. Both of those statements can be true.

No. The ACC sucks at both and at life in general.

It would be interesting to have a bracket of greatest Parent/Child Superstars. Hard to beat US Presidents.

bugatti replied to a thread LaVar Ball in College Basketball
I see this ending with LaVar being the family outcast. It is cute now, but once Lonzo gets older and starts earning then dad wants him a piece, it will devolve quickly. We have seen this song and dance before with parents wanting to live vicariously through their children. Dad wants that and a reality show. The NBA will see it for what it is. They know the secret to hurting LaVar is not to punish Lonzo, but to embrace him and pull him away...

Pitino was a successful NBA coach that left the Knicks for UK. He left because he knew the long term situation was not going to end well. Unless OKC changes directions, they are nothing more than a side-show and going nowhere. The NBA is a player's league and nobody is knocking on the door to come and play with Westbrook. He has only coached one season in the NBA, so I can't say "deep runs" (plural) in the playoffs :D I do not think he...

Because you and I don't think it will happen, it doesn't mean if defies logic. Not taking the UK job does not mean he never considered it. Donovan also accepted the Orlando Magic coaching job, then took it back. The narrative at the time was because he "is a college coach and will never leave for the NBA." Then a different opportunity arose and he peaced-out. A decade is a long time and people are at different stages of their lives. You don't...

Probably because you have two examples in the bluegrass with former NBA coaches that were successful college coaches? Why people think it is outlandish that people may think Donovan could ponder a future college coaching job seems dismissive.

It is speculation, but at heart is Donovan a college coach or NBA coach? OKC is not going to win long term with Westbrook running the show so I would say most coaches know that situation is not going to end on a positive note. He would also make comparable money.

That is their m.o. The TWolves are down to about 6 capable players and a handful of just guys that play. They have thrown in the towel.

Ball is a threat because of his supreme passing ability. He has the gift to see the court and anticipate where players will be.

You are missing the point. I am not talking about value to a university or what a good coach can do on the field, but in college basketball coaches are much more insulated and shielded. It is not really a debate, just common knowledge.

And as I have said before, I think it is worse in college basketball. College basketball coaches are the main focus of a program and are overly protected by administrations and media. College football coaches do not get near the latitude because the programs themselves are larger than the coaches.
