  1. I was wondering the same thing snakesnot_2000. However it was my original question that got it all started. Guru, wasn't 93' a great year. we both got to see our teams win a state title. You offended me however with how you always seemed to say something degrading about Mayfield,or how you seemed to downplay their accomplishments. If that is how you feel then thats ok. You dont like the Cards and I can live with that. I am sorry if I offended you in any way I am not trying to "Get Personal" with anyone here that I dissagree with. I was merely trying to express what I saw. Southeast Bell, its ok, I know how you like your Yellowjackets. Thats about the way that I feel about the Cards. But I still do give credit to other teams if I feel they were better. you will see that in my posts. I will let you know if you offend me, just ask the guru. LOL. Bengal, I think that the 95' Mayfield team was better than Hop-town, but I am biased. Truth be known they were two pretty eqaul teams. Another quarter and who knows what might have happened. That was the best game that I have ever watched. Even better than the Beechwood game and we won that one.And yes, that was a tremendously talented Hop-town team. After the game both teams were saying "see you in state" out of pure respect for the other team.
  2. If you would have read what I said you would have noticed that I said the 98' Middlesboro team was better than Mayfield that year. You desperetly need to read the posts in their entirety before you make remarks.
  3. GURU, thats not all I heard, but thats all I was not sure about, thank you for giving me another side to the story. As for your comment about there being a lot of "PRO-MAYFIELD posters", of course there are. The thread is Best Mayfield team ever, not best Mayfield team to lose to your favorite and why is your team better. It is a PRO-MAYFIELD thread. You simply down graded everything good anyone said about the Cards, and that is how I saw it. I am not perfect by any means but I am not the only one here to see that :ie:westsider"you seem to have a grudge against the Cards". What you said was taken to be offensive to Mayfield. At least by me. You may not or you may hate them, all the same I wish the best of luck to your team, the Beechwood Tigers, in the rest of their seson and If they meet us in the finals may the best team win.(if we both get that far.):thumb:
  4. Wow, what intensity. Guru, I think you have some unsolved issues with Mayfield. You don't seem to want to give them the credit they deserve. For any of their teams. The 95' team was better than Beechwood. Not saying the tigers were bad, they were a good team, however Mayfield was better. As far as the 98' team against Middlesboro, the Yellowjackets were a better team. They, in my opinion, were severly underated that season. When we saw we were playing them we did not know who they were. They sure showed us who they were. In 93'', my senior year, we beat a strong p-burg team that had our # all game. We found a way to win because we had complete team, poor ole p-burg did not have a good kicking game and it cost them the state title. Now I have a question for those of you who were at the 94' state title game. I heard that the Beechwood QB threw the ball in the air as the time expired and a Murray defender caught it in the end zone. The officials called it a safety when it was accually a touchdown, that would have given Murray the win. That is what I heard. Now please no Beechwood fans answer because YOU ARE BIASED. Only people who were not fans of either team shoud answer unless you can be completely objective. I am not saying this is the truth, just what I heard. I would like to hear the truth. I still think that Beechwood was better than Murray, a whole lot better. Murray just had an unbelieveable game. Hop-town beating the 95' team was a fluke. Mayfield was the better team as they were in every game they played that year. Hop-town had a tremendous team and we thought for sure they would be playing for a state title. But the Mayfield team that beat that East ST. Louis team had to be the best ever.
  5. I'm suprised to hear noone mention the '95 team. They only lost Hop-town that year in the game of the century. If there were 20 more seconds in the game Mayfield probably would have won that one. They then went on to stae to beat Beechwood 28-27. Beechwood had won like 3 or 4 straight titles and was expected to do so again. I've only been watching the Cards since the early 90's but that team was the best that I have seen. And don,t forget that 98' team that lost to Middlesboro in the finals. Or the 00' that lost to Danville in Danville. Mayfield has had several good teams. Noone can deny that.
  6. The best that I have seen is "THE STADIUM OF CHAMPIONS" in Hop-town. It could house a small college easily. The only thing hurting it is the track around the field. I think football fields should be JUST that, football fields. Not "track and fields". Never the less, The tigers have a great place to play. Also, yes I am biased, War Memorial Stadium in Mayfield is a very historic field. It gets used to death and always seems to look good. I know I loved to play there and love to go watch games now.
